Hi All, Long time lurker- just starting out. Ordered a Blu & then a 510 (should get one of them today). Hubby & I both wanting to kick the habit. He smokes a good pack a day and me 1/2 to 3/4. Any suggestions as to what levels we each should start at. Don't want anything that will kick our a**, just something that will keep the devil off our backs. And being able to enjoy it would be a big plus.

I was smoking a pack a day and started with 24mg. It soon became too much when I noticed I was getting nauseated and my concentration was down to nothing. (Couldn't watch a TV show without rewinding the DVR 20 times!)

I tried 18mg every other bottle, then every bottle (I use the drip method.) Then I did the same with low strength (9-6mg.) Now I'm down to 6mg full time.

I also notice I need much fewer bottles now. I started out at 4 bottles of 15ml/month, and now am down to 1 1/2 bottles a month -- less than $20 a month. Woohoo!

You might require a higher dose at first just because you're not used to the mechanics yet and still miss analog cigs. Once your brain gets the idea that the pleasure comes from the e-cig you will need less juice to satisfy you.

If you don't feel satisfied go ahead and order a higher strength. That's what did it for me. Whatever it takes to get off the cigarettes.

I smoked about 1-1/2 packs a day of full flavored cigarettes. I started out with 36mg/ml and quit in 3 days. Since then I have lowered to 24mg/ml. So depending on the type of cigarettes you smoke 24mg/ml sounds about right if anyone can really suggest such with all the other variables. I do not vape the same e-liquid I started out with. That took quite a bit of experimentation, some waste, and expense. I seems to like a lot of vapor, not too much throat hit, and I primarily drip at home and use carts when out, at work, etc. These are things you will learn as you go forward. I really wanted to quit cigarettes, so I was willing to put in the effort to make e-cigs work.

Definitely go a little HIGHER than you think you'll need, to start. If the nic level is too low, you will find yourself chain vaping but with less satisfaction and still wanting a smoke. If you go with higher nic, you will generally vape less and while I still did not find my first few days vaping that enjoyable compared to smoking, I did not want a smoke. I felt "smoked out", so to speak.

I smoked 1/2 - 3/4 pack B&H special lights. I started with some 8 and 11 mg stuff. Not high enough for me and I was alternating between smokes and vaping. This time around I have bumped up to 18mg and not a puff in over 2 weeks, including a couple drinking excursions amongst smokers!

I also find myself vaping a little less with the higher nic, thus conserving juice, but feeling satisfied. Which really is the ultimate goal in my mind!

Good luck! Keep us posted :)

another thing you can try is to get the 24 or 36mg and a doubler of the same flavor (that's a 0mg juice that tastes the same as whatever flavor you're getting) and if the 24mg is too strong you can just cut it with the doubler until it works for you. This is also a great way to make sure that both you and your hubby can each get what you need and not spend a bundle getting all sorts of different strengths. Of course then you're sort of getting into mixing territory and that's a little intimidating for a noob just starting out.

definitely higher when you start.
i bought 11mg, and 24 when i started.

i use the 24 for a *hit* and use the 11 mg when just want to suck on the thing and make cool vapor. i have been using the 24 mg alot but i'll try "stepdown" after a fiew months.

i would recommend cutting with glycerin or buying 2 strength bottles when you start. as you'll notice when you start vaping you will do it alot more than smoking... new toy factor
