I really enjoyed my Caged mod - mine looked like an altoids box. Took (2) 18650 batteries and vaped like a volcano for about $55.00. I've also heard that madvapes has affordable vv mods. There is the big brother or little sister vv which are also affordable alternatives.

For kickable mods, nhaler xhaler is designed (size wise) to take a kick.

Google any one of these to take a look. Just my $.02 - there are plenty of affordable vv options out there.

Good luck on your search!

I have The kick on a Silver Bullet with the sleeve so I can still use a 18650 battery. Have it set to 8.5. Was getting around 16 hours on full charge, but now only about 10 on same mah. But the increased power, vapor and flavor is awesome. I also have the lavatube, which is now only my back-up mod. I do the good tanks and boge 2.0. Only reason to go with anything else is vanity. Just my opinion.

IMHO, the best candidate for a Kick is the Silver Bullet. It's an exceptionally well built, very basic device.

As for something inherently VV—and less expensive than the Provari—that would be a Buzz Pro. The cost of it would approximate that of an SB with a Kick.

i agree. i do not own silver bullet yet.. *ITS GETTING SHIPPED TO ME IM SO EXCITED!!*
but i did do some research and overall silver bullet looks really good with or without the extension.
and of course you can just downsize the battery if you don't want the extension.

What is the best PV to use with a Kick. Or a good cheaper VV (cheaper than provari) and I would prefer not a Lavatube or Lavatube knock off. any advice would help

Silver Bullet. No question. Nothing else comes close, with the possible exception of the Legacy, but only because it's fully mechanical.

EDIT: Sorry, I wrote this post before I read all the other ones. It was such a no-brainer I couldn't help myself. but I'm gonna leave it just so you know.

What about something a bit less expensive? at $85 plus 45 for the kick plus batteries, I'm looking at very close to the same price as a provari. maybe like 20-30 bucks difference. How does the bolt compare to the Silver Bullet?
I think you'll find that when you figure in everything, the difference is more like $50-75.
The Bolt doesn't compare to the Silver Bullet. A Lavatube is closer to a Provari than a Bolt is to a Silver Bullet. For the $40 or so difference, it's not even worth considering. Frankly, the Bolt is an insult to the Silver Bullet.

That 4 amp LT that was supposed to come out was supposed to have come out already in the version 2. Turns out it was barely 3 amps. But unless you enjoy the sound of popping coils, or you have a love affair with dual coil cartos, it doesn't make one bit of difference in the real world.

If there's one thing to learn about vaping, it's never get the first version of anything. If a new LT comes out with an increased amp limit, it will be the first version of whatever electronics it has. There will be bugs and defects and problems. Count on it. The first LTs were problem ridden. Now, even though they're still version 1, the newer ones are coming off the line with fewer build problems. So unless you want to be Mr. Alpha Tester, you're going to have a long wait for a reliable 4amp LT.

IMO, variable wattage is a far better system than variable voltage. If a Provari was really just an "extra few bucks" more, I might get the Provari. But a Bullet, kick, batteries and charger would run about $60-70 less than a Provari with the same accessories and 25-30% is not insignificant, especially in light of the fact that variable wattage is better than variable voltage. I also like the modular concept of the Kicked Bullet. My use of the device doesn't depend on the quality or longevity of the electronics. If the electronics ever went out, I'd still have a good PV and could get brand new electronics for $45. There's something to be said for a superior underlying PV with a proven long-term track record.

The reality is that the little 35$ VV box mod from Madvapes is still the best performer of all the low cost VV mods. It will push a 1.5ohm DCC at over 5v which figures out to 3.5 amps & 18 watts. Even the $300 gold plated V2 Provari can't do any better.

The virtues of the kick in a SB have been pretty well covered already.

I went to provape site as my boyfriend has also been looking at getting a provari, and just the basic one with batteries and charger, no other extras was $198 before shipping, so even if you get the kick and batteries you will be way under the cost of a provari.

Also Altsmoke has a facebook page now with a 10% if you like them on facebook, making the SB even cheaper.

Why doesn't anyone ever suggest a kicked Megalodon? I have a SS Don, and just ordered the kick and batts....very excited to see how it performs. The thing is rock solid, attractive and sleeker than an SB, if you ask me. Perhaps the extra cost is a deal breaker.

The cost is part of it. The Don doesn't have the history of the SB either. The SB is legendary. The Don is still relatively new and not as time-tested. In 4 years, if there are thousands of Dons still going strong, with nary a misfire in their record, they'll begin to approach the record the SB has earned so far.

I own a Don and although a solid PV would never reco it as a buy. Tight draw has been an issue and the vendor has known about this for 3 months. They stated at that time they were aware of the tight draw and were speaking with the manufacturer about resolving the issue...at this time no resolution and no word form the vendor. I had to mod my connector and no longer have tight draw. Overall still pleased with the Don as it's a workhorse but very unimpressed with the vendor considering the main advert point in regards to price point was "quality".

But at those price points what your opinion, Would you spend the extra few bucks an just get a provari ? Or wait for the next big thing, like the mysterious 4.0amp LT thats supposed to be coming out. Thought about the VMAX but I i defently do not want a stacked battery mod.

I've chosen to wait and save up for the provari. That being said, I wanted variable voltage and didn't want an analog control (like the Buzz Pro). That pretty much left the lavatube and the provari, and I read too many testimonials of provari owners saying they bought a lavatube first and wish they hadn't.
