.using a 1ml syringe with my old eyes I can get closer than +/-.2ml. That's why I asked if it was accurate to +/-.2g or +/-.2mg

That's what I figured after reading it again, I totally understand......:) I don't know why everyone hasn't switched to precision scales nothing to clean up and very accurate with a 0.01 scale or better.

Spent a ton but am happy with it so far and make batches as small as 5ml without a problem.

That's a very nice balance. Beautiful! The one I posted actually has a blue display also, different than the picture OldWillKnot has shown on their website. I'm guessing it's a newer model or something, and the photos didn't get updated. BTW, I never use the windshield that came with mine, it's not necessary. But I do have it on when the balance isn't in use. It simply lifts off. Call me a lab rat, I think it looks cool!

Good. I think you'll like it. Like I said, I've used expensive laboratory balances for over 40 years professionally, and this is one hell of a bargain. It's perhaps a little more than we need for making juices, a small, portable, less expensive scale would work fine I'm sure. But for $106, if you've got it to spend, it's well worth it, IMO.

Took me a while to figure out how to assemble the windscreen properly. OK, I'll admit it, I was getting damned frustrated. But finally got it done. It just sits on the balance, it's not attached or anything. I just lift it off and set it aside while I'm actually using the balance. And then put it back on when not in use. Dust cover, looks cool, your choice. A two decimal place balance doesn't need a windscreen, unless you've got it right under a strong vent, or a fan blowing on it. Four decimal places, yes definitely.

I followed someone's suggestion and installed batteries in it just to give it some more weight/stability. It's got a feature where you use the 200 gram weight that's included to calibrate it. Only have to do that once, and after that you just check it by weighing the 200 gram weight. I always use the ac adapter, and have disabled the auto-off function.

The platen just lifts right off for cleaning.

Very exciting. Enjoy your new balance!

I don't know who larry mac is but my $20 scale works on point and precise unless I drip down the side of the bottle or something which happens alot when dripping VG.

Hey now. No reason to get your panties all riled up. From my post:

That's who I am. I didn't diss your $20 scale. I just like spending money! But not too much money, or I would have gotten one like WileECoyote. His is even nicer than mine.

Larry Mac, how is the measurement lag on your scale? I've found with my $20 jeweler scale that it can take 5 seconds or so to register drops, which means I occasionally overshoot my goal weights.

OK, I just checked it, and the reading starts going up about a half second after putting a drop in. Then the reading continues changing about once every second, stopping at about 4 seconds total. Although, sometimes it is 5 seconds before it stabilizes. So, 4-5 seconds. That was with me counting one one thousand, two one thousand, and so on. I didn't actually time it with a stopwatch, so I'm not sure how accurate it was.

LOL I think you read that wrong I was just saying my $20 scale works good, I love the high end scales, and when I get my county check I am going to get me a 201 also. The post was directed to larry mac and I didn't know that was your name so I said "I don't know who larry mac is"

I just went all nice cause I don't want to have to upgrade. It seems that in my life I always buy the cheap thing then it breaks or I always want to up grade. That and I have survived three marriages with no kids so I have a few bucks to spend. Now I am debating on getting an electronic pipette. If I do that, my scale will be null and void. I will have to mothball it until I move to colorado or use it as a fancy scale for cooking.

Very interested in the electronic pipette thing. If you do some research please let us know what you learn. I have glass pipettes and pipette pumps which work nicely. I don't think you can beat a scale for ease of use and very little cleaning.

I use the Ohaus SP402 because I wanted 400g capacity.
