What should I expect with a mech?

Battery drop off, and what you described it as, is a reality of an unregulated mod and batt yes. Normally I can vape it as low as 3.7 without being dissatisfied even though I can tell a difference after 4 volts and bellow. Full charge (4.2) down to 3.7 volts on my sony vtc4 batts (quality batts) will last me 6 hours on a 1 ohm coil kayfun and about two tank fulls of juice in it. One more batt finishes off the day until I go to bed. They charge in about 3 hours I think, but I've never payed to much attention to it. Even when the batt starts to drop off, longer hits will get the coil performing as the mech is unregulated and will get things hot. Works for me better than regulated devices besides high end non pulsing mods that I've never tried. I only use 18650 vtc4 batts. A kick in a mech mod which regulates it might change the output to be consistent, but I've yet to try that as well as I've been happy with performance and batt life. Everyone is different and will prefer different things, but your build will determine the batt's performance and longevity

Thanks ^Top-Shelf^! Yes that's exactly what I'm going for! Love your setup. I also bought a nano tank for my kayfun. Are there hybrid kits for kayfuns? I thought they were only used for RDA's?

A kick is a good idea too. I'll look into it.

A hybrid adapter is used to connect any 510 threaded atomizer directly to the top of your battery, eliminating the need for a top cap on your mod. There are certain RDA's/RBA's that can do this without an adapter, few examples are

And of course the Aqua- made to match the Origin mod

You definitely will notice, but I also purchased a 510 screw on volt meter. It can show you the voltage of your battery when screwed on the mod, and then screw on an atty to the other side and you can see the voltage drop. The voltage drop helps you compare how hard a different mech will hit next to another mech with the same atty. I mostly use it just to see when I notice the voltage drop, and there is a limit to how low you discharge batts without doing damage to the batt.

There is a limit, but if you're vaping you'll never hit it.

Never discharge a batter below 2.5v under load.

Of course if you're battery is down to 2.5v it probably stopped producing vapor a long time ago.

I really appreciate all of the advice! Learning a lot of good info here. I didn't know that some RDAs/RBAs don't require an adapter. Good to know.

Correct me if I'm wrong but my understanding of hybrid kits is their main purpose is to lessen the voltage drop? Is it a significant difference? Or mainly for cloud chasing to pull out as much power from the battery as possible?
