I really have my eye on a Steel Punk Slug clone. I have sourced several places to get them. What I'm unsure of is, should I use my nautilus Aspire with it? Or get a rebuild able drip Atty? I can go to my local vape shop and take the class on coil winding and how to manage a rebuildable. I was looking at getting a clone atty for my first go. Any suggestions?

IMO using a dripper with a mech is where they shine. Yeah they will work with tanks, but I don't see them as worth the effort if you intend on throwing a Nautilius on there. You're not going to see much of a difference unless you aren't already using a vv/vw device.

As for suggestions? There is a lot of information which you can provide that'd help people suggest the right thing for you. Tube or box mode? Material of the mod? Most importantly, your price range? Honestly if I could start all over again then my ideal set up would be a reo with a single coil rda. The "squonking" function is the selling point for me that'd get me back into drippers. In reality I would never recommend something I don't own, but Reo is a company like Provari. A bad review or complaint is rare.

Lastly, while I'm not saying to take the coil class at your local shop just stay aware that all the information you need is here on ECF. I understand the process can be a little intimidating the first try, but at the very least you should read up on battery safety provided in various threads and blogs on this forum. The employees around my area have not practiced good mech safety practices in my opinion. Your area might be different. Just stay safe :)

I bought a Stingray X clone because people kept telling me how great it would be. What they neglected to say too was that it would really only be great if I were to use a dripper on it with a reasonably low resistance coil. A lower Ohm than my VW (MVP2) would fire with (which on the MVP2 is about 0.8 Ohm).

In my opinion (and from only my own experience and from what I've now learned) a mech mod is pretty much wasted on a traditional tank like the Nautilus etc. It's still only going to put out 4.2 volts on a fully charged battery and go down from there as the battery voltage drops from normal use.

So, when using a traditional tank system such as the Nautilus in my opinion, you're better off using a VV/VW device so that the wattage or voltage can stay consistent to give you the best vape.

I don't know about you but what I find is that I will usually start vaping in the morning between 6 and 7 watts, and by the end of the day I'm usually up to about 9 or 9.5 watts on my VW device. Now if I was using my Stingray x mod, I'd be starting vaping in the morning on a freshly charged battery at 4.2 volts but by the end of the day it might only be putting out 3.# volts and doing the opposite of what I do with the variable wattage device like my MVP2.

So, unless you are going to get into low resistance coils, it seems that a mechanical mod would be wasted to use it with something like the Nautilus. I've been there, done that, tried that, didn't work out. Now I only use my Stingray X as a backup for when I forget to charge my MVP2 or when I simply want to use a 2nd tank and have it already on something to vape with instead of taking off one tank to switch it.

The "Slug" by Steel Punk is what I'm looking at. Materials are: Brass, wood, and copper. I am the "show me" learning type. Once I see someone do it and put hands on, then I can read info on here and understand what I'm reading.

Mech modes , when you learn them , are great for the nautules. They are built for low or high volt crowd . A vv or vw mods have their place and are great but it boils down to what you like and are happy with . The nautules looks great on a steam punk style mod because of the design being so rounded but to each his/her own . My mini is atop a k-101 and I like it and it vapes great to me . I also have tried many with ego , vv, vw , box mods , cheap copies , many twists , and nothing beats the vape I get for this simple setup for me . Good luck .

ps sorry thought it was steam punk not steal punk , but still works what is best for you and enjoy .
