I got sick of trying to find something I can stand from Children Of Bodom, Leprous, Gojira, Mastadon, Mudvayne etc... - Fark it, this appeared in my newsfeed.
My favorite conductors for Beethoven Symphonies are Christopher Hogwood & John Eliot Gardiner but Barenboim does a respectable job.
My mini review - The 7th's second movement is one of my favorite movements outside of the 9th, 3rd & 5th symphonies. Barenboim turns it into a homogenized muddied mess here IMO. Get the Christopher Hogwood cycle on CD to hear it done right or find it on Youtube if available.

Another excellent Beethoven set - Harnoncourt - The Big ol' Beethoven Box Set
Save a ton by getting it new from a reseller or used.

I was visiting Toronto and heard The Hip on the radio when I was playing billiards.
I found out who it was and gotSaskadelphia Road Apples at a used CD shop.
I was cranking it stuck at a light and noticed a guy doing a perfect air guitar solo on the sidewalk next to me grinning like a fool. Very vigorous and he didn't miss a note.

I watched the last show online along with ALL of Canada (inc Trudeau at the show sporting a Hip shirt). Gord Downie dying of inoperable brain cancer doing a last tour for their fans. To me it sounds like he's screaming "GET OUT!" at the tumor.
Talk about leaving all out on stage. Incredibly moving.
