What strength nic to buy??

What nicotine concentration do you want for your product? If it is equal to or less than 12 mg/ml, any of those will work. Having the base at least twice as strong as your desired final nic level will give you room to work in flavors etc. How confident are you that you can handle the higher strengths safely? 100 mg will likely be least expensive, but not by a whole lot unless you buy a liter of 100 mg/ml (which is a heck of a lot of nicotine). It is also more dangerous, so you need to think about that. Have you read the safety threads? That might help you decide what strength you want.

They are all the same thing, just different concentrations (strengths), so you could use any of them, since you are shooting for 6 mg/ml. You just add more to your mix with lower concentrations and less if using high concentrations.

I have a blog here on ECF that might be helpful:

It would also probably be useful to download one of the calculator applications and get to know how it works by creating some imaginary mixes.

When I first started I found it easier to deal with something that had a multiple of the strength I wanted. For instance if you want 6mg then 12mg is easy. Just cut it 50%. Of coarse its not as economical but its still pretty cheap. A gallon of 100mg will last a long time at 6mg.

I agree. I prefer "safer"...

True, 100 mg/ml is the most economical, but buying 12 or 24 and cutting that to 6 or 3 is not costly - compared to analogs and B&M juice... Even if I screw up totally, at these levels, I am still going to be ok...

I'm going to make my own juice but not sure what to buy. Going to get VG based nicotine but what strength?? There's 24mg, 36mg, 60mg, 72mg, 100mg. I'm just getting into this. I would guess the stronger mg you get the less you would put in your mix. I suppose an eliquid calculator would solve my problem.

Regardless of what NIC strengh you buy you will need to mix it down to your vaping strength. Whats most important is making sure you know how to properly do it. By all means use a calculator and do your homework before you start mixing.

Here's where to start.

Read my blogs before getting started

E-Cigarette Forum - dannyv45 - Blogs

then read hoosier's blogs.

E-Cigarette Forum - Hoosier - Blogs

Then read Boletus's blog's

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/boletus/

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.

Then after you've read all that stuff ask lots of specific questions on what your not clear on before you start until you are absolutely clear on what to do.

From a purely better flavor for longer while storing standpoint get 24mg or less if you plan on buying a large quantity. Bad nicotine tastes terribly rank. Lower nic levels oxidize slower as does nic in PG.

If you are going to try this out with 120 mls. get whatever strength you want. To me the 100mg is easier. I just have 1 small bottle to keep track of. helps that all my kids are a bit older and I don't have pets. You can get whatever size you want and store most of it in the freezer with a smallish bottle on hand for mixing.
