what tank should I give a rookie for a kanger evod VV1600?

This may be a stupid question... it's my first post, so be gentle LOL
Backstory: I recently upgraded from my old Kanger Evod VV 1600 (my first) to an iStick 30w. Now, TBH I began as all rookies do, with cheapo clearos (T3S to be exact) - as I'm sure y'all hear often, flavor just died after about a week. So I grabbed the iStick with a Protank 3 (geni airflow base). That of course lasted less than 48 hours before, disillusioned and still hopeful, I hit ECF and decided on the Subtank Mini. Now I'm set for life (or at least til the next round of shinyitis hits...lol)
OK, so that's my own story.. Now, my mom & dad are gonna try vaping on my advice. I want to hook them up well so it'll last, without spending a fortune before we see if it sticks. Dad loves tech, and smokes pipes, cigars & cigs currently, so I'm leaning towards setting him up with my current combo (istick 30 + subtank mini) (PS I'm also more confident it'll stick with him, he's quit smoking before cold turkey til Mom caved LOL)
My main question is for Mom - she's one who hates quick info overload until she's sold on the idea itself. She smokes light or ultralight cigs only. I'm leaning towards my VV1600 for her to start (though I do think she'll upgrade, just knowing her, let her decide to ask before giving way too much info!!) -- so what on earth tank do I get for her? The clearos sucked, glassos are expensive but worth it, I'd lean towards the protank 3 (w airflow valve) and yet I have no idea if the VV1600 battery itself can handle the amp drain of a protank which, to my knowledge, comes in a MAX resistance of 1.8 ohms.
Admittedly I'm a rookie myself, or else I'd know how to do that math myself to see what the amps would be & compare to battery specs, but TBH it's been all I can yet do to get comfy with basic Ohm's Law itself and I'm still not comfy enough with it to have even tried my Subtank's rba deck yet. So I came to ECF pros for help!! Please advise!! I'm more than willing to buy her whatever y'all recommend, just don't wanna repeat my same errors by not looking here first. LOL.
OH and BTW - thanks, all, for the posts I've loved reading and learned so much from!! Here's hoping somebody will answer my heretofore-lurker self on this one, eh? :)

PS, I've also considered biting the bullet and getting her my setup as well as Dad..it really is easier, not harder, to use...two main concerns there, 1 is she would assume she needs to know the volts vs watts and all that before she touched her settings, and it'd stress her out...and 2, the sub would probably be too warm for her ultralight-cig self to like (at least til after she's hooked on vaping vs analogs, lmao). That's why I'm leaning toward the pt3, it's (marginally) better flavor than the cheapos yet almost cold compared to the sub...

I believe the K1000 epipe is a mech mod which I wouldn't recommend starting on. I got pushed into buying a mech mod when I first started and it so frustrating for someone who had just started and knows nothing about mechs to try to use. Thankfully I was able to purchase a VV/VW battery quickly. Moving on the VV/VW was such a relief after struggling with my mech.

Any real man would appreciate a hammer pipe clone lol.. That thing is a nice piece of metal.

As for mom, my gf uses a spinner 2 and aspire et-s tanks and loves them. They're small come in colors and work. The bvc puts out a decent amount of vapor. After that, the Nautilus mini is a good step up. The coils last a while, and its user friendly.

For a regular VV eGo type battery you can't sub ohm on it - you need to keep the coils at 1.8 ohm or higher or it will kill the life span of the battery. I don't recall it Kanger makes PT3 coils in that resistance range.

Keep in mind too that your own prejudices and preferences may not be the same as anyone else. Inasmuch as you didn't like the T3s your Mom may not see them the same way. If you are new to this there are a lot of reasons why flavor disappears when you start - aka "vapors tongue". Or if you mean the performance just went down hill - depending on your choice of flavor and how sweet it is - a week on a Kanger coil is about all you get.

Vaper's tongue would be consistent across tanks...sampling at the store the same flavor I vaped at home, and now switching to the subtank wouldn't have solved the problem if it were vaper's tongue. The plastic clearos just don't give good flavor for long. I'm not just talking about the coils, those are easy to replace often - the tanks themselves leave a lot to be desired.

I have a couple of K1000 e pipes. I even have a bamboo one. I like it for what it is, I've done a review on it. I like the fact that it has no cut off so you can just puff away but the button is kind of a pita when unscrewing to swap batteries. The hammer is a huge mech mod, big difference. It's stainless and comes with extra tubes so you can accommodate different battery sizes.

Sounds like you got alot of decisions to make but well worth the time. I started my gf on an evod 2 then a week later she wanted more vapor. Soooo i got her the mvp 20w and nautilus mini shes satisfied and completely stop analogs. I think you have the same thoughts i had dont wanna spend alot of money and have her not like it. Really whats not to like about vaping after smoking nasty cigs, now you got flavors and can breathe.

2 months in and I still use my evod & t3d tank every day. I also use an istick 50w and kanger subtank mini every day. but the evod is more portable, plus I had trouble with my subtank at first (just replaced rings and hoping that fixed it - fingers crossed). I never had a problem with the evod and t3d other than you have to run higher pg (and it still won't handle chain vaping or very sweet juices very well without blowing thru coils)

when we put my subtank back together with new seals, I also put the 1.2 ohm coil in it. I'm running about 16 watts now and the vapor is not hot at all - it's barely warm, and I do mean barely. Maybe mom would like this?

@KattMamma- love it! Never thought of higher PG to make the T3s work better...*facepalm self* LOL
I wonder if your cooler vapor on the subtank has something to do with the 50w vs 30w? Or if I'm just too new to higher power to have an accurate yardstick of it yet?

I'm pretty sure the cooler vapor is because I'm running 16 watts. I'm using the 1.2 ohm coil too (it's rated for 12-25 watts). I think most people run the 0.5 ohm coils, which are rated for 15-30 watts (I think). I don't see how the coil would make a difference in how warm or cool it is, but then again I'm new to this and still learning. I also don't know how the 30w vs the 50w would make much difference -- as long as you're running the same wattage on each??

But yeah, higher PG for the t3d or t3s (t3d I think recommends nothing less than 60 or 70 percent PG)

I've got mine down to 10w now (also on a 1.2 occ which is actually reading at 1.3)...and I still find it warm! Worth it, the flavor is unrivaled by any other tank I've tried and the clouds are super fun too....but again, I'm not sure Mom would agree because she hasn't had the dissatisfaction with other flavor experiences yet, coming straight from analogs

Update. I've talked with them, dad isn't too stuck on the idea of a pipe, he said keep it simple just with the ability to throw clouds. LOL and mom also told me she isn't intimidated at all by the idea of "looking less like a cig" - she said she likes what I've told her about my device more than the idea of the old evod VV twist - so, I'm gonna get em both a small regulated box. Dad I know needs at least 30w ability for his cloud chasing, I'll prob set him up with a subtank (which I have come to love, I'm used to it I guess cuz it doesn't seem nearly as warm to me anymore. Haha) Mom I bet would be fine below that, I'll still give her my protanks. I'm currently debating between more I isticks like mine, or a Sigelei vmax v5, or even a vamo possibly. Any thoughts now, y'all? Haha
