I guess I'm a bit of an exception to the rule so far... Since I no longer smoke, I just don't feel the urge for nic the same way I did before. In the past, I'd often stumble to the balcony/deck/backyard for a quick smoke even before getting dressed. Now I find myself showering, making coffee, getting ready to go to work and often only start vaping after I've walked out the door! Everyone's different!

I never smoked until I got ready for the day (and am the same way with vaping). Maybe it's because I never smoked in my house (or around my kids), so it was easier to get ready for the day and then sneek outside for a smoke. But, I also don't really do anything until I've brushed my teeth, showered and gotten dressed.

I've lived in my current house for 10 years and don't think I've ever stepped out of the bedroom without having showered and gotten dressed. I'm in the shower within 3 minutes of waking up every single day.

I don't know, Stew. We never smoked in our house either. When I smoked I still hit my back porch where my cigs and lighter were waiting for me before my eyes were even fully open. Then I took my shower. May just be the routine that you are used to but, I had to have nicotine before even having coffee or a shower.

It all depends, sometimes within a few minutes of getting up, sometimes it may be 30 minutes. I didn't smoke in my house, so I always had to get dressed and stuff before my first smoke. I'm not dying for a vape as soon as my eyes open.

Same here, I had to be dressed enough at least for the porch -- a robe, sometimes, but in the winter, had to be fully dressed, socks, boots, etc. So I got into the habit of getting dressed right away, because of that. Now, I still get fully dressed before I even venture into the kitchen (old habits really do die hard!) but it's nice that I don't need to wait so long. Though I've noticed that this time around, I really don't feel that urgent need first thing in the morning, as I did back in Feb-March when I quit the first time. Maybe my addict brain is finally getting with the program - "there ain't gonna be any smoking, so get over it already!" :D I think it came as a rude shock to my brain to realize that it doesn't own me, I own it. :D

My mech is in my hand milliseconds after I shut that satan spawned alarm clock off!! Start the day with 12mg nic in my hardest hitting dripper at that moment (depends on what I've built lately)... then usually drop down to 6mg once I get to work... I figure if I've been sleepin', then I've got some catchin' up to do!

My routine was always to grab that first coffee, & hit the porch for a smoke with my coffee & newspaer while I wake up. I'm retired because of RA now, so seldom have need of an alarm, but my routine hasn't changed. I've always enjoyed starting my day that way. Some things have changed tho. Now it's news via Samsung, & what flavor to start off with! I smoked a pack of 120mm cigs for 42+ years. I've had many xrays, even as recently as the last 6 months, & my lungs always look & sound clear. Dr's always act disappointed. I started vaping on August 1, 2014, & that was it for me. I haven't even had any of the hacking or coughing everyone talks about. But I never had any of that before, either. But honestly, do not approach me in the mornings until after my 2nd cup of coffee & a good vape. I can't even think or talk coherently until then.
Edited because of Fat Thumb Syndrome.

Congrats on the switch, Kenna!
I'm just a little ways up the road from you. :)
North part of Houston, so 2 hours with the traffic these days.....

You aren't kidding. I used to 9-5 commute from spring cypress/249 to uptown...so, 249-beltway-290-610-Westheimer. I do not miss that. Gone from the house from 7-7.

I used to love my coffee then about a year ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (form of blood cancer) and I lost my taste for coffee and soda. I also lost over 45 lbs. I love my vaping its my new hobby. Keeps me busy during the day and I get less anxiety and depression so vaping is a god thing for me.
