Hey y'all I'm the new guy. Iv got some new guy questions. About mech mods and rda builds. I just bought a mutation x v2 and want to build some coils but I wanna make sure I'm understanding things right before I hurt my self or my mod. It's mostly about ohms I'm having a hard time getting my head around how they work. I'm not dumb and super mechanically inclined. But it's like I just can't find a clear understanding. For example what is lower .3 ohms or .8 ohms. And when people say there build is .3 does that mean its .30 ohms or is it just .3 ohms????? It's making my head hurt!!! Lol thanks y'all.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are new to mech mods and rebuildables I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries not as Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod/RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Welcome to the forums. Yes, .3 ohms is .30 - they are just like any other number so .3 is lower than .8 - you also need to know ohms law as well as read up on battery safety, as you can only push a battery so far ( don't go over it's amp rating)

+1

Be careful with this... if you push batteries too far on an unregulated mod.... they will vent. google it..its not pretty.

A lot of people seem to think that venting batteries isnt a big deal.. and most of the time it may not be. IMR are "Safe chemistry" batteries. This means they are less likely to explode, however they do reach high temperatures when they go into "Thermal runaway" and can burn out the insulator in your atty and vent hot gasses into your face. They also CAN violently explode, its just less likely. Personally, I dont feel like its worth the risk so I always try to stay atleast 10% under the continuous battery rating - realistically I'm more of a flavor chaser, and I stay .8ohms or more, which pulls just over 5 amps. I use authentic 20amp batteries from a reputable dealer. I do cloud chase a bit, but keep my builds over .2 and use 30amp batteries - .2ohms @ 4.2v = 88w @ 21amps - staying well under the continous amp rating will keep your batteries from stressing and will let them last through more charge cycles. You need a good charger and make sure you dont over drain or over charge your batteries. Over draining isnt an issue in most regulated mods as they cut off around 3.5v and over charging isn't an issue on a good quality charger.

What I'd like to know is why you asked the same question twice?
Once here at 10:27, under heading, "Hey y'all" then you copy pasted and posted the same again at 10:30 under heading "Hey yall" no apostrophe
to which I replied.
Were you perhaps trying to increase your post count or did you just feel like wasting somebody's time?
I know you wasted my time considering all the replies you received here from my fine knowledgeable colleagues.

Oh, you were probably inpatient...sometimes it takes people time to reply...be patient and don't blow yourself up
