What to buy for first RDA / mechanical mod?

Hello all! So, I am currently using an ego ctwist with protanks. I rebuild my own coils on them (thanks to help from this forum!). When I was at my local vape supply store one of the guys working there let me hit his mechanical dripper and oh my gosh! Best flavor, best vapor production ever! So, now of course I need to get an RDA or maybe an RDA with a tank (AGI which can be used with a tank or as a dripper) and maybe a mechanical mod to put it on. My question is what should I get? What have you had luck with? I need something affordable and good for a beginner dripper? I Also, what would be a good first mechanical mod to use...K100 maybe? Any and all recommendations would be much appreciated! Thanks guys

I ordered an IGO-W last night as my first dripper, all the reviews I found said it's rock solid, works great, and doesn't break the bank - it's $14, that's cheaper than some juices out there.

I don't have any experience with mechs, I'll let the people that know answer that.

I would always go with something I know works, and since you like that one, and would get local support.

I got my first mech just over a month ago. The one I wanted to get -- but wasn't in stock locally -- was the Smoktech Magneto. The reviews are great, and it's affordable.

Well to all my friends who first venture into the rebuildable world (even though you rebuild your heads on your protank), i like to steer them toward a k100. Its a reliable and semi-cheap mod that does the job and looks quite cool. As far as rba, i own a AGA 2-1 that i love. Its a tank that both serves as a genesis rebuildable tank but when dissasembled, also serves as a dripper. Great little 2 in 1 tank that doesnt break the bank. I believe it sells for around 35.00. Anyways, thats my advice

I've finally gotten into the word of mech mods and can share my experience. I started off with the K100, it was nice and worked well but it felt really bulky and was a heavy mod. It's built like a tank and is very affordable. I think I paid $18 for it. My one piece of advice to get really good batteries. Make sure you have IMR batteries. Don't stack the 18350's and go for the 18650s.

There is no protection in a mech mod and things can go wrong with cheap batteries and stacking small ones.

I just got the Nemesis clone from fasttech the other day and I really like how it feels in my hand. The switch is a little hit or miss but it has alot of adjustments to really dial in to how you like it and what batteries you got in it.

As far as the tanks go, I have an AGA-T2 and love it. Just got an ithaka clone and I have a love hate relationship with it. It was tricky to get set up just right but it works really well. For a dripper I use the igo-w and it works perfectly. I drilled out the air holes and it made it alot better.

You can never go wrong with these mods NZONIC V5 by MadzModz, Titan and Cronus by VHO, Sentinel by GrandVapor these are all Philippine made mechanical mods and I would humbly say that Pinoy Mech Mods is one of the best Mechs.

For the RBA's you can get the Cyclone, Fatty V2, Nimbus, Trident.

Pair it up with a quality high drain 20-30 amp battery and a good quality charger and you're good to go!

K100 is nice but my 510 threads didn't last. Nemesis clone as was said is really nice. I go w or I go L are good bets

I'll third the motion for a K100 as the mech. It's inexpensive and very sturdy. You can also use pretty much any size battery, room for a kick if you want - and all for less than $20. I got mine from fasttech ages ago, but you can get it from most US vendors for a similar price now.

As for an RDA, one of the best ones I have found for starting out (well for anything actually, it's still one of my go to RDA's) is the Igo-L.

It is made of polished stainless steel, so it looks good, has a large deck for rebuilding and it has a little raised edge on the bottom of it - this helps if you overdrip or if you want to load it with juice for a longer time between dripping.

As suggested before, make sure you get good batteries, buy a multi-meter and have a boat-load of fun.

Been using mechanicals for a long time now. I started using them long before there were RBA's or sub ohm stuff. This little Mako was my first one.

That thing even fell out of a duck blind, and spent a full week at the bottom of Ogden Bay (my dog found it for me)
A nice little 510 dripping atty on that thing was 7th heaven.
So understand that mechanicals have always been a great alternative.

That said:
Even in todays world there is no need to go extreme in order to get a great vape from a mechanical. Sub ohm is not the only way to get great flavor or a huge cloud of vapor from one. The key is to find the vape that YOU like, and learn how to set up whatever RBA/RDA you choose to use properly & safely in order to get that vape that you like.
The wick/coil that YOU build is far more important than which RBA you put it in, or the mechanical you put it on.
The A7 is the RDA that I use because it best replicates that old 510 atty that was 7th heaven.
Sorry, but I wont suggest the new mechanicals that I use because I feel they need to be modified before they are safe. The one exception being the REO which is safe.

It all really depends how much you're trying to spend. Clones are rolling the dice on the quality and the real deal is going to break the bank.

If you have the money to spend I would suggest the Atomic RDA by MCV. It blows my IGO-W out of the water as far as flavor and vapor density goes. The adjustable air holes are a great touch too. Just being able to go from a .6ohm dual nanocoil set up to a 1.1ohm single microcoil without having to plug one of the holes with my finger is nice.

My first real mech was a magneto. I still use it and got one for my brother the other day. Telescopic = any battery size, the version 2 has an adjustable 510 pin, and the magnetic button is really smooth (no springs = longevity). Only real downside is the weight, a little on the heavy side. A good online retailer should be around 40$. For an RDA (dripper), IGO L or W work amazingly. L is single coil, W is dual. For tanks an RSST is what i use maybe 20$ and super easy to build. Just make sure you buy good batteries. NEVER skimp on your batteries with mechanical mods. Good luck and remember once you make the jump to the mech mods you wont want anything else!

I enjoy my Nemesis mechanical mod with Trident Dripper set up. Both you can get for a decent price at FastTech.

My first rebuildable was the IGO-W. Super super easy to learn building coils on. Jumped into a kayfun clone from there. Got the hang of building micro coils with cotton. Hardly ever use the IGO-W anymore except for when I'm trying new juices.

my local b&m recommended a k100 or the one step above that and an igo-w/l/etc. said its a good, basic and cheap setup for beginners. i actually may go buy the setup next week
