Okay, there is just so much information...

I currently have an E-lite kit (charger and batteries etc.) but am wanting to move into buying something refillable instead.

I have considered the Genesis Echo.

First, how long would 3ml (this is how much the cartomizer holds) of liquid last me (roughly in terms of cigarettes)? This doesn't seem like a lot of liquid, so at around £8 for 20ml, I would want to know how much to buy and how long I would expect it to last me!

Is there any advice you can give a complete novice on what I should be looking to buy and where from?

Many thanks,

3ml has got to be the same as 20 ciggies hasn't it? I think 3ml would last me most/ all of the day if I go to work and vape at the usual times, heavier when I get home.

I have just bought a mixing kit which works out cheaper.

Must admit that 30ml lasts me over a week probably nearer 8-10 days but I don't really watch it that much - hope that helps and you'll probably get differing views;)

I am currently using an egoc vv battery about £25 I think and either mini nova/ nova or innokin dual coil which provided a better hit. Replacement heads can be had for about £2.50 each or you can dry burn etc. and re-use. But I tend to get through a head every 2-4 weeks passing 3-4 ml through it each day.

You want x2 on everything plus have a charger so that you have a back-up but my vv battery lasts most of a day at 4.8v the highest setting I have.

How deep are your pockets? as this will throw up more possibilities.

Not a precise science though.

Okay, that seems like a fairly reasonable usage.
I have spent about £60 on the e-lite kit recently so I am not looking to spend an absolute fortune. I will probably keep the current kit I have (rather than sell it on ebay) and use that when I am in the office.
If I am to buy something else then I think that about £50 would be a reasonable amount to spend - but I would like to get some liquid with that!

Thank you

I think I am going to have to wait until pay day before I can buy this.
I must admit that it all seems rather confusing for a noob like myself.

I assume that in the first instance all I need to buy is the starter kit and perhaps a few liquids. However, following that what 'extras' would it be worth buying with my first order? I may as well get a little extra now to avoid paying some of the postage charges later!

Thanks,

It's difficult to know what to stock up on as you might find that you don't like a particular liquid after using it for a couple of days or you fancy a change of clearomiser.

You could think about buying a sample pack of different small quantity liquids just to try a few out?

Once you get into the swing of things/ find what you like you can order larger quantities of the consumable such as liquids/ clearomisers/ spare heads.

standard P&P is only £1.99 from vapeescape and other suppliers and mitigates the risk of an impulse to stock up on stuff that you don't get on with/ become bored with.

I've not tried any flavours.
When I did smoke, it was Marlboro Light and I was on about 15-20 a day

One of the reasons I wanted to try the refillable is that I think that this would be cheaper than vaping e-lites which are working out more expensive than I originally thought (there is no way each cart is the equivalent of 40 cigarettes!)

I think I will buy the starter and then get a number of samples and go from there :)
I assume that the clearomiser is easy enough to clean between flavours?

I would hate to be the blind leading the blind here as I'm fairly new to vaping to but there are many ways to clean a cleromizer, I find the easiest way is to wash in hot water and leave to dry overnight. It's essential to have spares! Be careful with strong flavours like cinnamon they are hard to shift and I find having a dedicated cleromizer for these flavours help. If I was clever I would post a link to a YouTube video for cleaning, hopefully someone can help out :)

Maybe consider something like this with your purchase.

50ml Platinum Ice 54mg/ml Mixing Kit @Totally Wicked

I bought one a few days back and have been mixing my own - others suppliers sell this stuff aswell - but I found this has everything in a box. With me vaping 18mg strength which would suit you based on your habits - or you might go lower - you'd get at least 150ml from the nicotine mix - and you get 50 ml of flavours - TW have a daily discount on their forum aswell so I got 16% off when I bought. It's surprisingly easy to mix. I have another thread on here and there's plenty of advice given by other members.

I know it seems daunting and at face value expensive but most ecig stuff is pretty basic once you get used to the terms and kit and if you spend wisely there are savings to be had ;) The price I paid can be reduced even further by going to vendors that others have suggested like Boots!

I mix my own liquid and was really worried at first but it is super easy. I get my pg and vg from boots and the nicotine from totally wicked. The Flavour concentrates from Health Cabin are excellent and only £1 for 10ml but be patient I'm still waiting for my delivery since 28th Feb :( if you order well in advance before you run out the savings are huge

Lol I can picture you vaping unflavoured mix - that's a good price if it ever turns up;) I can't wait to go into Boots when the time comes :)

You will be much happier with a quality carto/tank/atty than disposables. Flavor, TH, Vapor, consistency are all improved. Kanger T3 is a solid tank, ViVi Nova is another. I would shy away from cheap clearomizers, never had a good experiences with one in the long run, wick issues all the time, etc. I personally just want to fill and go. If T3 blows a coil, I slap in a 2$ replacement head and I'm off again.

I don't know how you guys vape 3-9ml of liquid a day, I would have a perma-headache!! I guess I'm a light vaper..

For me, bout half > 3/4 a pack a day smoker back in the day, 3ml lasts me 2 days.

Might not be a bad strategy to up your nic if you have to chain vape multiple ml's of liquid every day to feel ok. IMHO of course.

My vendors of choice are

myvapestore
madvapes
ivape
mt baker vapor
avid vaper (for ciscos and HH357)
Got Vapes

I think the stuff that's been suggested so far has been maintainable with the option of replacement coils/ heads. They are all fill and go.

The OP is newer than some of us so if your advising what to stay away from best to give a brand name so that he knows which kit you are referring to or advising against.

My mix of 18mg is good for me and not chain vaping as such as at work for much of the day but I do favour a mid range strength mix with a more regular consumption much as I did with cigarettes but wouldn't have moved to a higher strength cigarettes and smoke less if that makes sense.

I use an innokin dual coil or novas along with replacement heads no problems to report.

9ml a day would be high my reference was around 3ml a day.
