This is what I picked up from the SFATA meeting in Chicago this last weekend. If you would like to add or subtract from it,feel free.

What to comment to the FDA about their deeming regs on E-cigs.

FIRST OFF do not RAGE about it and cuss and otherwise put them off.

This is very important and the future of the industry depends on us letting our thoughts be known in a calm manner.

1.Request that they extend the comment period from 75 days to 120 days so that more people in the public will have time to go over the proposed deeming regulations and have a chance to comment.

2.Tell them that E-cigs should not be deemed a tobacco product, tell them you have smoked cigarettes and these have stopped you from smoking. Tell them your health care provider reccomended you start using an E-cig.( if this is the case)

3. Let the FDA know that the proposed regulations will stifle the benefits of E-cigs and innovation in developing new technology within the market.Tell them if we have to revert back to the predicate product of 2007 the ability for the product to work in replacing the more hamrful act of smoking will hurt the public.

4. Tell them that it will harm small business.( loss of tax money to local governments) local population out of work,etc..etc..)

5. Let them know that there is a huge absence of evidence that E-cig use is comparable to the risks of using a cigarette which combusts paper, leaves, and stems at a much higher temperature than an E-cig.

Here is the link to the FDA comment page type it into your browser window and click on the green link on the right:

Thanks so much for your post. I appreciate your efforts. We are all on the same side here.

The "NOTE:" part (last paragraph) of this post has been read by many here at ECF:

and:

CASAA has a long history of leading struggles against proposed anti-vaping regulation and legislation. It also is being advised by some of the best folks around on the science and the regulation, such as Bill Godshall, C.V. Phillips, Clive Bates and quite a number of other luminaries. CASAA's board also cotains a number of people with much experience in both the science and the organizing arenas.

Anyone is free to do as they wish, of course.

But I sense that many here on ECF are waiting for what we feel is the advice that we trust most.
