None, really. I didn't enjoy smoking as much as vaping after 5 days, so I tossed out my remaining cigarettes and haven't bought any since. This was using a non regulated 650 mAh eGo style battery and top coil clearos...
That's great! I wish it was that easy for everyone. It saddens me to see how quickly some people go back to analogs.

The coughing during the 1st week! it seems that the vapor is too much to handle at first.. :)

I've heard others say that too, but I -- an asthmatic! -- never got that at all. What I loved was how I got such terrific throat-hit, compared to my ultra-light cigarettes, WITHOUT the coughing that a similar TH from a cigarette would definitely have caused -- that was the reason I switched to ultra-lights 20+ yrs ago, the lights made me cough too much, because of the sensation in the throat (which I now called TH).

So many today don't start out with simple gear which is easy to use and just works, or use cheap e-liquid or simply don't have the desire to really quit. I wasn't even trying to quit- just happened...

Fear of failure. So I was a dual user for 6 weeks to get accustomed to vaping and got to the point where I knew I'd never stop vaping and if I relapsed the worst that would happen is back to 5 cigs a day, not 25. That conviction took the pressure off. Mostly the reason I made the push to zero cigs was to have more credibility with other smokers. I'm pretty sure that anyone who doesnt stop vaping will eventually stop smoking.

My only instance of having a problem with coughing was when I made the big switch to RDAs and mech mods. Definitely a bit different than the hit of the Aspire Nautilus I had been using haha.

That's pretty much the reason why I took a full month to transition -- I never had any expectation of quitting smoking, I just wanted something for indoors during the dead of winter. But after I came here and saw all the success stories, I thought, hmm, wonder if it would work for me, despite the total failure of every previous attempt. So over a month's time I just gradually smoked less and vaped more, till I was down to 1 a day, for 3 days -- that "first smoke" in the morning was the last to go, because of that problem I mentioned above, trying to hit it like a cigarette and expecting instant results like a cigarette. But once I addressed that problem... the cigarettes were gone. Coulda knocked me over with a feather, how easy it was.

Have to agree on both eliquid quality and simplicity of gear. The younger generations often want new, high-tech, and shiny when they really should start a bit more simple. Older generations often have the money for the better stuff and end up with a device they don't fully understand. And as for eliquid quality, when first starting to vape unless you do extensive research you're likely to end up having so cheap liquid at some point. If it happens in very new vapers it could cause them to turn away from vaping because their idea of standard eliquid is based off low quality stuff.

Sorry, I have a tendency to ramble haha.

I used a T3S for about 6-8 wks when I first started, and during that time, kept chasing more and more TH; when I got my first Kayfun, I had to really back-off the PG for a while, the TH was so much more intense. Then I got used to that, plus discovering that I really need 85% PG just so I can keep breathing. When I got an Achilles, I was using 10mg, usually at 10w, and the TH was so intense, I had to backoff to 9mg, and never more than 9w. The hardware does make a difference!

My transition was pretty smooth. As soon as I found the right setup and juice it was goodbye analogs forever. I even threw out all my cigarettes before going home and never looked for it again. Although on the second day it got crazy because I forgot to charge and waiting for the damn battery to charge seemed like it took years. At least teh thought of lighting up didn't enter my mind. A week later at a bar I bummed a cig off my friend and lit it up and coughed my .... off. I was so happy that day because I finally knew that I will never smoke again.

The hardest part of my transition was high stress! A couple times in the beginning that sadly sent me back to the convience store. But funny thing, after about the third "cave" I realized I was wasting my money. I really didn't need them anymore. Vapeing was enough. Once I realized that, I never returned. Come December I'll be celebrating year three! Gotta love vapeing :vapor:

So far it has been a very easy transition for months I had smokers cough every morning that lasted a good hour or so on 8/29/15 I was taking my daughter to college & smoking in my truck well I started coughing real bad & decided that was it went into a vape shop & the guy set me up with a cheap evod & some 3mg e Juice
he told me it wasn't high enough I should start with a Min of 6mg. I told him I wanted the least amount of nic I could get away with as it is easier to go up than down. well here I am just shy of 2 months still Vaping on 3Mg but have upgraded my equipment now have an X Cube 2, eVic VT, eVic VTC & just gave away my itaste VV4
I still have my last pack of smokes in my truck with the last 2 cigs left in it as a reminder why I stopped smoking
within 2 days smokers cough was gone & within 4 days I could not stand the smell of cigs. my taste comes & goes juice will taste really good on minute & nasty the next. my hardest part of transition is I never got shinyities with smoking
Oh & I was a over a pack a day smoker for roughly 27 years.
everyones will power & cravings are different but you have to want to quit otherwise nothing will work. Vaping has been the easiest way for me.

For me the biggest hurtle was more of the whole psychological ritual aspect then it was the nicotine...I did initially struggle with the nic like something was missing but then i switched to WTA-- problem solved!!...but still i kept feeling a void and pull for a cig in other ways. I quickly realized it was all the psychological fine details of smoking a cig that was missing and now pushing a button and inhaling off a metal mouth piece had simplified and replaced much of my smoking routines.
I still struggle with things as simple as not having a ashtray to my left on my desk or a cig hanging out of the corner of my mouth when doing things. Yelp this journey has been complicated and frustrating for me in the silliest of ways and still is a ongoing battle for me..sigh

Gear and flavor were my stumbling blocks. ECF helped me find better gear almost immediately. I still use it to this day.
The flavor chase seemed daunting so I went flavorless. I still use it to this day.
Before bed, morning, and prior to a weekly visiting that I choose not to smoke at, were my last hurdles to get over.
By then I knew I could get over the hurdles easily if I applied myself and eventually did.

For me, the one time that kept me going back to cigarettes were smoke breaks at work. I never had enough time to satiate my need for nicotine in the short amount of time that I had.

I got serious about quitting using vaping right about the time vape gear got really good and easy to use.

Danced around it for years but the stuff sold could never get me to stop smoking so it was putting lipstick on a pig.

Serious subohm gear that was easy to use came out.

    I got me some.

Hit a subohm and smoking was gone forever without and transition discomfort what so ever.

With todays gear quitting is easy, fun and if your not me at least inexpensive.

The hardest part for me was losing the damn thing. Shortly I figured out how to tie it to me and have had one tied to me ever since.

ROFL!!! When we're at my parents' house doing housework for them, I carry mine around all over the house, just so I don't set it down someplace and have it get lost amongst all her bric-a-brac! It's happened several times so I just keep it in my mit!

... fiddling with gear. Hands down.

Setting aside a working setup before going to bed, only to have it produce nothing but dry hits the next morning. Tinker tinker tinker - couple of decent puffs. Set it aside. Dry hits. Tinker tinker tinker... etc and so forth.

Figured if I spent all the time tinkering on learning to set up rebuildable atties - I'd get it eventually. Thankfully I was right. Been vaping happily ever since.
