Hi dman87!

If you want to get the Silver Bullet, Electronic-Cigz has them here in Canada. They even have a neato-looking thingie that lets you have two attys or cartos plugged into a Silver Bullet at the same time! Certainly unusual. Hmm, it says that thing is sold out, but still...neat. Though crazy expensive for a none-too-necessary oddity.

Anyway, that said...I would personally recommend the ProVari from ProVape. I have one and OMG, it is a vaper's paradise. I wrote a post a while back recommending it in the thread below, post #17:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/canada-forum/180934-what-should-i-get-next-2.html

Some people love the eGo-T...nothing against them (I mean if something works for you, then that's all that really matters) but my personal feeling is that just about any PV on earth will give you a better vaping experience than the eGo-T. Even a 510!

But seriously, if I could only choose between a 510 or an eGo-T, I'd choose the 510 hands down. Anyway...best of luck, happy reading and happy vaping!

oh ya i forgot i looked at that one too. so how long have you been using your provari??? the many times you have to push the button for different things to happen seems to me like it will break or malfunction after a period of time using it. But if im wrong about that then thats awesome. what set up is best for it??what atty should i use on it or should i just get cartomizers for it??? so i notice you are in toronto, not too far of a plane ride from where i am.... about how long did it take to get yours delivered?? did it also say "current wait 1 week or less" when you ordered it????
i think you really did change my mind after looking more into it and watching a few videos about it.

I checked out the provari, thanks for the link, I see that you can get it with an ego-t adapter. I'm far too lazy to use anything else but if I ever want to try some new hardware this would be what I'd want to try. The only thing I'd be worried about is jacking up the voltage to kill the attys a lot quicker. Well that and the Gestapo seizing it at the border. Too bad someone from Canada doesn't sell this. I think that in general suppliers up here would do well adding more hardware inventory so that we don't have to import a lot of it.

I love my Nuck FistPack (no longer available), yet after seeing a friend of mine's provari and trying it out... this one is the next on my list as it appears really well crafted and works awesome with many combinations of choices (so ya don't get bored stuck with the same setup/voltage/etc), as well as seeing settings and atty resistances at a glance all in one (no separate multimeter needed).

Once I gather up enough savings (I'm soooo bloody broke at the the moment), I'll be putting in an order definately !! and the lead time (pre-order) is tons better now than it was following release which was then near 8 weeks.

Greg

I've both the ali'i and the supertmanufacturing's Precise 18650, both devices are top notch you won't find anything better. Both use 18650 for 3.7 vaping all day with one battery, (you can use LR510's or boge LR510 cartos or LR306's to imtate six volt vaping) or two CR123a's for 6volt vaping. Supert's P18650 has a lifetime warranty and is all mechanical will work forever. The ali'i is the best most beautiful bottom feeder on the market you can't beat it. Flavor vapor at 6volts can't be beat. Good luck in your search, you can't go wrong with the above mentioned.

Hey dman87.

Apologies for the delayed reply.

We've had the ProVari since for 2 months now...absolutely no problems. At the time when we ordered, it was a 4 week wait before it would be sent out; people were ordering them like crazy, so the backorders were piling up. It's to ProVape's credit that they didn't sacrifice any quality or care in order to speed things up. Better to wait a bit & get it right.

We went with the base model...the original silver. There's a black one & chrome one now, exactly the same on the inside as the other...but the chrome is a fingerprint magnet, & we liked the silver more than the black. Original silver looks super beautiful, more than 2 months later it doesn't have a scratch or mark on it, despite daily use...and it's $20 less than the other two.

There are two shipping choices; $17 or $36. Go with the higher-priced shipping. It will make the difference between waiting for a few days & waiting for a few weeks. When the ProVari was finally sent out from Seattle, that was on a Tuesday. It went to San Francisco for U.S. Customs...then to Mississauga, Ontario for Canadian Customs...and by Friday morning, it was in our hands! Also, I'd rather not elaborate publicly on the following but trust me...you will not have any problem with your ProVari getting through Customs.

---

Personally, I've used standard Boge 510 cartomizers, pretty much exclusively, ever since I began vaping - with the 510's, Mega eGo, and now the ProVari. I just really like them! The ProVari has a 510 connection, so your choice of atty/carto etc is really up to you. "Best setup" is really a subjective thing. There are all kinds of ways you could use this PV...it's up to you. Me, I usually set it to 4.2 volts...and use a standard Boge carto.

---

Now, re: your question about the button...no, it is not going to break anytime soon, if ever! It's very sturdy & performs great. The switch inside is electronic, not mechanical. The ProVari was designed using the same military design rules that NASA uses. Which is awesome! It was designed to last for ages. Check out the following from ProVape's FAQ:

Q: Are electronic switches better than mechanical switches?

A: Yes. Properly designed electronic switches can last much longer than a mechanical switch. Modern electronics are built for long life and high reliability. An electronic switch can't get corrosion or scorching on its contacts like mechanical switches often do. Finally, electronic switches offer additional safety features that are unavailable with mechanical switches.
]

For just $25, you can extend the warranty coverage on your ProVari to 2 years! So you're not going to find yourself with a broken button, certainly not anytime soon...and if you do someday, ProVape will take good care of you & replace it with a new one.

If you want to get into the technical aspects...according to ProVape, the button is rated at 500,000 cycles. You would need to press the button over 1369 times a day, every day for a full year, to reach that. And your practical experience is almost certainly going to be that it works longer than 500,000 cycles.

Give that video review by Scott Bonner a look-see again hon (below). It's a pleasure to watch. There are a few features & points he forgot to address, but he does cover a lot...and definitely shows how simple & wonderful this beauty is.

Happy vaping, and glad we were able to help change your mind for the better!

When I started vaping, a year ago, the Silver Bullet by Altsmoke, was the latest greatest; solid, big battery, capable of either 3.7 or 6 volt power.
Shortly after came the VV variable voltage mods.
Then came Bottom Feeders, then VV bottom feeder...
But then came "smart PV"... regulated variable voltage. Key point; "regulated" so that your variable power is consistent regardless of battery charge cycle.

Provape was the first to come out with the first "smart PV" ... Nov. 2010. With a brilliant LED readout for all those specs.
IMO in comparison to the other smart pv currently on the market, I go along with your friend's recommendation. It is simply the best. Not over designed.
Many love the Darwin which has a couple more and different features which in my opinion are more issues to deal with (see the threads). None of the which diminish the Vari, including the battery cycle time being shorter. (get the extension cap and the 18650 batts)
I'd say the Vari is essentially simplistic in its advanced technology... a win.

I recommend the Pila charger (better and safer) and extra batterys.

Today there is the Darwin... in a month the new Buzz Pro, and the Eclipse will be out... 2 more "smart PV's to add (Buzz also has the Infinity Pro coming).

In a year's time who knows what the technology will be like, but imo this is already a quantum leap in a very short time in this young industry.
Far as I know, they are made in the USA, another good thing.

Tanks, carto's, or dripping, are about the only options for now. With this technology, a bottom feeder (or the new automatic top feeder Eclipse) with "smart" electronic chip PV could be a good thing, but imo, there's nothing as good as a perfectly dripped vape on a perfectly powered atty...
