McCain said in an interview that "if a hydrogen tipped bomb was headed for America, the very first thing he would do is reach for a cigarette" and that he still gets cravings all the time to be doing something (he quit over 10 years ago, and was a smoker for over 40)

Obama quit last year, and is hooked on gum

Kinda makes me wonder if the VP choices smoke or were hooked as well lol

Ever wonder how strong the anti-tobacco tide is? Check out this story on a House bill that passed yesterday (look at those yay-nay numbers!). We can only hope it fails in the Senate. And the only reason e-smoking is not included is that they don't know about it yet. One line could be written that would abolish our ability to obtain liquids or hardware. Both my custom pipe tobacco and Swedish snus would be put out of my reach by this bill.

And if something with a 300-year history of safe use in Sweden (snus) isn't allowed in England, then that tells you Trog what the likelihood is of e-smoking being accepted by government. There is nothing proven about e-smoking. Just compare our unregulated, untested Chinese E-Liquid to Sweden's food-grade demands for the purity of snus ...

This is what worries me. If even snus is banned in the UK how long will it be before e-cigs get banned?

Sadly they are already looking into e-cigs - we are probably on a short rope:cry:.

I hope the USA has a longer time than us. I'm with TropicalBob - the less said to them the better.

I think I read, they are talking about sending that per USPS.

UPS and other carriers have already polcies in place for alcohohl as example where an adult person over 21 has to sign off when the package is handed off. I got familiar with that when somebody send me a few bottles of whine and I had to show my driver license and sign for the package. I think they just want to prevent that minors are getting the stuff. Sure, that will be a few $ more for shipping. :-(

Hey Guys, first post so I would like to thank everyone for all the info you have here. I have been e-smoking for about a month and enjoying it.

I recieved a call from UPS today about an order from lightinthebox.com. The woman I talked to said the FDA had some questions and specifically asked if this was a smoking cessation device. I told her it is not marketed for smoking cessation but is a smoking replacement device. She then asked what the other boxes were and I explained that there should be one smoking device and the rest were replacement cartridges. She said she would call back if there were anymore questions.

I thought the FDA was at least vaguely aware of these things. I have ordered a few other e-cigs delivered through USPS and the first one delivered through UPS is held for ten days and inspected by the FDA. Has this happened to anyone else?

Spoke with the shipper who gave me a description of how the package looked when it was shipped.

I just got the package from the UPS guy and I found that the envelope had been slit open on it's short axis and re-sealed with clear plastic tape. The contents appeared undisturbed based upon the description of how it was packaged. The UPS guy thinks it was just a random search and nothing more.

So why dont they sell these misters as dietary aids? Do not include nicotine but rather....

Vitamin OJ that can be inhaled before, during, and after your morning jog.

Caffeine Juice that can be inhaled to help you take on the day.

MONSTER Juice that gives you that extra surge of energy so you dont pass out behind the wheel.

A Catalog with flavors and prices for alternative cessation uses should the consumer choose to use it so.

Fighting the drug companies even with the best of reasons is a loosing battle.

Actually, all of the above has been thought of .. and rejected. First off, vitamins can change from the heat of vaporization, and the amount that could be inhaled in vapor is inconsequential. Nonetheless, you can buy "vitamin" liquids from E-Cig. Caffeine? Why? Energy drink? Janty now has a Red Bull flavor (funny that the label said Red Cow when it was shipped). It's more a taste match than an energy lift. Understand how little substance will be carried in each inhalation. The nicotine concentration is at poisonous levels in the liquid, so that we e-smokers can get some lift when we inhale an individual puff.

There's more on this in the Health section of the forum.

Like some have noted, I'd rather drink a cup of coffee and puff my e-cig than try to cram pure caffeine into e-liquid (can you say "heart palpitations" and "emergency room visit"?). And I don't mind swallowing a few vitamin pills.

A real breakthrough might be including drugs designed for inhalation -- drugs that help lung conditions. COPD sufferers might have new hope to get needed nicotine without worsening their condition. This is a loooong way off, however, given the required testing with clinical trials for all drug delivery.

Right now, the worry is that nicotine will be considered a drug needing regulation.
