The newer, 780X-compatible, directly adjustable voltage regulator chip (notice the small adjustment screw on the bottom right corner of the chip), from Dimension Engineering; link:

(They have other ones, look in the links. There are also 25Watt ones such as the one here:
DE-25wSWADJ )
The 25w one looks big, and the 10w one isn't enough power. I use MP2307 modules from fleabay and after trimming the board to just barely touch the traces it's 16mmX18mmX5mm, a quarter is about 25mm dia., these are very tiny and $1 each shipped. They will source 3A all day long and up to 5A in bursts but get a little warm after 15 seconds or so. Most of the last batch of 10 I picked up current limit around 5.5A, I have one freak that is around 6A. Also since the dimension one doesn't break out the enable pin, you need a high current switch for your firing switch. With the mp2307 and putting a pull down on the enable pin, you can use a micro switch and never worry about it failing, because you are hot switching microamps instead of amps.

My first mod http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...aka-kis-3r33s-z-2x-10440-9v-batt-box-mod.html with MV parts except for the regulator stuff. Bucking a pair of 10440s with 90% efficiency I'm getting a day and a half out of 1 set of batteries and using nothing but my mod and never turning it off.

I don't know what chip they use but they say 1a from 1-10v, even a 3ohm atty at 3.3v is over an amp. Keeping it towards it's limit might be a bad thing. The little module I used is smaller, more current, and you can buy 17 of them for the same price as one of the dimension modules shipped. For ease of installation they are ok, but the price is a bit high.

Personally I wouldn't see a vendor wanting to resell them. Would you like to pay $30ea from MV when you can buy them from the link you provided? I mean, personally I would love if he carried everything under the sun, but from a business standpoint it doesn't make sense.
