So, I've got my first person interested in my PV but I'm not sure where to start her - it's my 60+ year old Aunt. She's been smoking 40+ years and asked me "what brand I'm using". First problem is that I'm in NJ and she's in FL, making this a little harder. I told her that I'm not using a drugstore type because (truthfully) I wanted more control over my nic level and I didn't want anything that tasted like a cig. (not to mention cost, battery length, etc.) I told her I'd send her info via email and of course I'll direct her here, to the ECF New members info. And I did ask on the FL board if there were any B&M's near her, because that might be easiest.

But knowing I'm likely to make her overwhelmed, where would you start her off? I'm thinking that I want to send her something to try, but I'm not sure what - I don't want her to go through the same hassles I did but I don't know if the idea of filling a T3 or EVOD will put her off. My cousins husband (her son-in-law) still uses the Nuvo, which I didn't like, but I do still have mine that I could send her. (at least I think I do).

So, just curious - knowing she's older, and she's far away, what would you suggest or send her to get her started, knowing simple is probably key here?

Thanks!!

I would send her to Walgreens to pick up a Blu disposable @ high nic strength (24 mg) for $9. Then instruct her DO NOT buy the Blu kit...just the disposable to try out vaping.

If she thinks vaping might work for her, get her an easy starter kit & sample juices.

My first good kit was a Kgo with Boge cartomizers. Check out the Johnson Creek Vea kit also. Ya' need to keep it as simple as possible 'cuz you aren't there with her.

Best of luck. Auntie is lucky to have you.

My sister's the same age. I sent her my old Riva 650's (ego's) and a box of Boge's. I pre-filled one of the Boge's for her. She adapted quickly to the size of the ego.

Also gave her a 30ml bottle of unflavored. I thought that if she hates the flavor that I've sent her, it would delay the process.
She likes it, but we're working thru beginner's cough right now.

If your aunt is truly ready to make the switch you might be surprised at how quickly she will be able to grasp what she needs to do with whatever equipment you get for her.

    My suggestion:
2 ego style batteries w/charger I would suggest at least 900 mAh batteries. Twists or spinners would be great.
2 evods or stardust type clearos or one of each to see if she prefers top or bottom coils.
Some light juices-light fruit or a tobacco mix in a 15 to 18 mg range.

Written instructions on charging of batteries and how to fill juice delivery devices. Keep it simple but clear. Have her call you if she needs further info.

This is what worked for my sister except she started with cartos instead of clearos and she is in the same age range as your aunt. The main thing she has to have going for her is the Want to Quit. Everything else will fall into place. Good luck to both you and her.

THIS!!! I wish I would have started out with eGos instead of the overpriced died in 2 weeks cig a like I got. It took no time to learn how to refill my clearos.

I'd also find a reputable shop in her area. Whatever she buys, wherever she buys it, have her go to a local shop. She can:
    A) test out flavors to ensure satisfaction
    B) get help on setting everything up for the first time
    C) establish a connection, somewhere she can go for help when she needs it and you can't Skype

Thank you - and I think that's a good idea - to have to her try the Blu to see what she thinks, while I'm getting something sent to her that would be a better long term option. But I do want to keep it simple - I know that's the best way to go with her.

Yes, expect to call often, lol. Send her some vids too. Skype would be good.

Actually, that is a great idea about Skype!! What a great way to show her what I'm using and how to do things! Thank you!!

I'm hoping that works out - I looked on the State vape search list in FL but there was nothing in Port St. Lucie and I don't really know what is around there. I haven't gotten a response on the FL thread, but I will sit down with a map tonight to see if any of the towns that show up are in her area.

    Thank you all!! :)
