whats a pass through?

This might be a stupid question but can some one explain to me what a pass through is and the pros/cons?

A pass thru is a device You can use while it is plugged into a power source. Usually thru a USB port hooked to a computer, car charger or I would even imagine a wall outlet. I don't nor ever owned one so thats all I can say about them.

I use the Joyetech eGo passthrus that are sit-n-go type. It has an actual battery but uses a micro USB cable instead of the screw on charger. Really like them.

It's the UPGRADE version and allows me to switch between a regulated 3.4volts ( common ego voltage), and unregulated 3.7 volts.

they have pass through battery's that can be charged while your using them, the pro is that you don't have to stop using it while waiting for it to charge.
A con of just a pass through device is your always connected to something, PC, wall charger, whatever your using to get power from

Moonlit is correct, a pass-though allows you to vape while you are charging the battery, while the non pass through cannot be used while it is charging. Pass through batts will have a USB plug at the bottom of the battery. Usually has a cover that you screw off/on to expose or cover the usb port.

I have one of each. I use the pass-through at work or at home when i am on the computer and just have it plugged in while i vape

There are 2 different types of pass throughs. One type is a pv with the battery charger built into the casing - so that instead of having to use a separate charger to charge the battery, you just plug the pv into the cable and you can vape while it is charging the battery:


The second is a pv that has no battery, it is run directly off the cable and must be plugged in at all times.

I have the first one that Kushka talked about, ego vv, 3-6 volts. use it when I'm on the computer,works great. It's about 1 year old

I refer to the bottom one as a USB bypass...direct feed from a USB port that "can" push enough current to run the head without a battery (usually 1000mAh or higher output)

I use the ego passthrough. I love it. While I'm home I leave it plugged in and vape all day without losing a full charge. If I am going out I simply unplug it and go out knowing I have a full charge. The one I use is 1100 Mah, so its good for a 12 hours of heavy vaping. I only use one battery. I have no need to carry extra batteries or chargers with me.

I do the same at work, I keep it charging and it has a pretty long cord so it's not really a bother.
