Cats are sensitive to changes like that. We brought home our twins from the hospital, our cat just would not stop sneezing. We stopped smoking in the house at that time. The vet said it could have been anything from no more smoke to the new laundry detergent we were using or even just the smell of the babies themselves.

Just in case anyone doesn't know, since you all have cats apparently. PG + Cats can be trouble. Symptoms of heinz body anemia don't include sneezing from what I can tell, so it's probably not what's wrong here.

Oh my god... I just found out about this.

My cat has been having a lot of health problems lately. Some of these are unrelated. I asked the vet over and over if anything, including my vaping, could be causing her problems. She said no.

But she was throwing up a lot for a while. This could be caused by liver disease, but... oh god, what if she got in my PG?

I'm almost tempted to switch to all VG now, even though I don't like VG. She's the kind of cat that gets into anything she can reach. I don't think she can reach my vaping stuff as it is now, but... oh man, now I'm freaked out.

I wish she could talk and tell me if she ate something!!

I've lived with cats my whole life. I've ground up prime rib, boiled chicken liver and put it through a food processor, bent to their preference for Chicken of the Sea over Bumble Bee tuna (don't even mention generic brands), and couldn't get them to eat it at least half the time.

The idea of any of them taking upon themselves to voluntarily drink PG is in utter defiance of their nature, as I've come to understand it. If she were to say anything to you, it most likely would be along the lines of what's this #@*&ing stuff you're smoking now?

Oh yeah. She HATES her prescription food. It took a week or two of her starving herself before she'd finally eat it. But I couldn't give her anything else - it came right back up, so she'd be going hungry either way. I even had to syringe feed her sometimes at first.

I get why. It's foul-looking stuff. I wouldn't eat it either, if I was a cat. But unfortunately the old girl just doesn't have the stomach she once did. No more Fancy Feast (chick and shrimp flavors only, of course).

She actually doesn't seem to mind my vaping. But she's still bitter about the prescription food...

Out of 5 cats in my house, all but 1, was here when I smoked cigs. None of them act any different now then when they used too. It's the time of the season for allergies to flare up. Your cat may be having an allergy issue or like you said, a slight withdrawal. I hope just allergy related. If you contact your vet, they have a shot that can be administered to it. I have a dog that has to get one every season change. Kitties are fine. :2c::2c:

PG can cause problems with cats, but they would need to walk through it and then clean their paws on a regular basis for it to give real concern.

Obviously be aware when filling carts, dripping etc.,

I agree with all the posts here that point to an external allergy, or simply a reaction to the change in the air in your home...lol, well its cleaner now...

Another cause of frequent sneezing in cats is grass seed up the nose, so if it continues, have your Vet check it out.

I agree, that pic of the cat is fantastic

I have had my cat who's about 4 years old for 3 years. In that time, I've always smoked in my place with the cat around. He would occasionally get the sniffles or sneeze and would always run the other way when I would light up (which was often). I started vaping a couple of days ago, and now he's started sneezing more often. I read somewhere that that could be an effect for me when I quit smoking, but I didn't realize that maybe the cat would go through "withdrawal". Or could it be that he's sensitive to the stuff that I'm vaping?

not sure, my dog hated cig smoke but now she eats the vapor...lol

It seems that as soon as a cat hits the ripe old age of 13 (in my house at least) they start rejecting food and water . The only think that simba can keep down is the furball medicine and 1-2 kernals of food at a time. Most of the time he will eat or drink to fast for his tummy to handle it. Then he starts his cry, and my aunt swears it is a child crying.

Oh, and anytime I am drinking or eating anything that remotely smells sweet, he is in my face. He definately has a very very big sweet tooth. Poor baby never gets any of it.

I'm not sure what you're talking about with "prescription food". Once the vet prescribed an antibiotic for my cat. FB and I fought for days! I tried the oral syringes, I tried the "kitty burrito" with the syringe (and still have the scars to prove it). I tried those expensive "treats" that you wrap around the capsule.... He "bought it" the first time. Then after that. He would chew lightly on the treat and then spit it out. Pick it up again and do the same thing. I realized that he was eating the treat AROUND the capsule and leaving the medicine alone. I tried everything that I could think of. Finally a couple of days before he was supposed to get off of the antibiotics, I mixed the antibiotics with about 1/3 of a jar of baby food (chicken, I think). I tried the kitty burrito again with the oral syringe. I got more on his face than in his mouth. But when I let him go, he started licking the medicine off of his face. There had been too much of the mixture to put in the syringe so I put it in a little bowl next to his food dish. And he ate the rest on his own!! After that, (for the last couple of doses) I would mix the contents of the capsule with the baby food and he would just eat it. I wouldn't suggest that you try with less than 1/2 jar of the baby food--they can still smell the medicine in it. I spoke to someone else who told me that sometimes cats have issues with eating because of dental problems, and their cats enjoy the baby food.

My cat seemed to get ill for a few weeks... right after I stopped smoking... then she was fine... I wondered if there was a connection to vaping-

tangranap.jpg

Seriously, I was wondering this too. My cat started acting weird about the time I started vaping. Kinda slow and lethargic. Eats all the time, but doesn't gain weight. Kinda cranky. Hangs around me a lot more than he used to.

My first thoughts were that he's suffering from withdrawal. But that's ridiculous ....right?
