Hey people!

As you will see in a moment I am very new to this "world".
What should I consider when selecting an e-cig?
* Battery length?
* Vapor quantity?
* Liquid duration?
* Quality of construction?
* Or something diferent?

Can anyone point me to a good introductory post in this forum? There's so much info here that I am a bit dizzy! :oops:

Thanks in advance!
Annie

Hi Annie,

Try the sticky http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...strated-guide-e-cigs-parts-1-through-6-a.html at the top of this forum.

You really need to look at your smoking habit to judge what you may or may not need. I was a heavy smoker for many years and felt very let down by the batteries on the smaller cigarette-like units. So, I switched to what they call a Mod; specifically I got a Silver Bullet from AltSmoke. Its a little pricey but it houses a battery that lasts all day. I also got a higher volume of vapor from it, which replicated a cigarette more closely for me.

In a nutshell, I wanted to get as close as I could to smoking a Camel and did not care about the look of the device as much as the benefits it gave me.

With regard to flavors, there are a zillion of them but I have tended to stay in the realm of tobacco flavors - I do not have a sweet tooth and most of the other flavors are fruits and deserts. Still have not found one that I am 100% happy with and it been a month, but I can say that I still have a Camel now and then but vaping has kept me from continuing my 2+ pack a day habit!

Read through the link above and note the differences. I can only speak to what I have used which was the 510 (before witching to the Silver Bullet). Small, light, good vapor and OK taste. batteries are crap for someone who uses it constantly, but if you were a light smoker it might work for you.

I am also new, however my 2 cents is....

Do
Buy from one of the recommended sites
Buy a 510, or 901, seems like an easy intro to this "hobby"
Buy Juice and top off your own carts
Buy more than 2 batteries, and more than 3 attys to start off
If your a heavy smoker go for 18-24mg strength
20 or so a day go for 14mg-18mg strength
if you smoke lites, go for 12mg or less

Don't...
Be put off by the initial cost
Buy something that looks like a cigarette, the 2 should not be confused
Be put off by the learning curve

Don't wait, just do it

Battery Length, or battery time between charging? Most eventually end up with a battery mod to make it through a days work or to keep from getting frustrated with constantly changing and charging batteries. The batteries for the e-cig just don't have a good charge life.

Vapor Quality, is something we are always trying to improve. This is why the popular models are popular, the 510 seems to be the most popular at the moment.

Liquid Duration, not really a factor unless you are talking about how often you need to refill the cartridge. I just started dripping and think it uses less juice than the cartridges do. The larger the cartridge the longer it usually last between refills.

Quality of Construction, this is big especially when you are talking about battery mods, but in general e-cigs are very close to each other as far as construction goes.

Hope this helps, best thing to do is get on this forum and read, read, read! There's a wealth of information here and the members are glad to help you out.

If you spend LOTS of time at a PC, get a PT - and USB/AC adapter so you can use in a wall socket and not risk frying your USB PC port.
I love my PT use it all the time (honestly I plug it into to my mouth like a pacifier and it kinda stays there lol) - it tends to run hotter than my manual joye510 (got mine from cignot.com) tho so the taste is alittle different but great.
Battery life isn't an issue for me as I dont go out for long periods, but if I did I'd get a battery mod like hte bartleby or CHuck.
Construction: get a popular make and it should do you fine. None of them are guaranteed for life but the popular ones do interchange parts with lots of mods. So thats an advantage.
Liquid duration: lasts as long as you vape - this isn't a consideration unless you are buying something like a Juice Box (a mod) which uses the bottle and not a cart. Refilling non JB PVs is easy and quick.

I am amazed by the willingness to help of this comunity. I think I like YOU :)

As gk7319 suggested I will red the sticky post. After reading it I will post again with hopefully more interesting questions.

I have never been a heavy smoker but I've tried to quit completely several times without success. I really believe e-cigs can be a very good step in the right direction.

Again, thanks all the people who answer.
Annie
