I've been reading these forums for a few weeks now (frankly I'm addicted), and I know a few terms kind of mesh. But there seems to be both a meshing and a divide in the terms APV and mod.

As far as I can read (and or understand) an APV is an Advanced Personal Vaporizer , or an electronic divice in conjunction with a battery used to control your vaperizer.
A mod is something that has been MODified from some other form to be used to hold a battery , and connect to a vaporizing device.

The thing I've seen many times over is this term used as a blanket for everything. Electronic MOD, MECH MOD, or all of them called APVs.

So can someone tell me if I am wrong in my assumptions of the meanings of these terms?
Is a Vamo an electronic MOD and an APV?
Is a box MOD an APV?

What's in a name?

You are correct with mod. At the beginning apparently people would modify or build their own. Companies started seeing what people were doing and making APV's based on those mods but they weren't called APV yet. People continued to call them mods. Somewhere along the line people realized a provari (for example) wasn't modified and wanted to correct the confusion so advanced personalized vaporizer seemed better than personal electronic nicotine inhalation system (or variations).

Everything that was not a cigalike used to be called a mod.
And then they came out with Egos and then things that were not cigalikes or Egos were called mods.
And then the owners of the forum decided that we should use the term APV instead of mod and it almost worked.

Nowadays, I don't know what to call what.
