i believe the problem is that the replaceable head actually screws into the top of the grey part, not the top of the silver part.

just messin' with ya. Yes, the coil goes into the bottom piece (base) and the threads showing go into the silver piece that says "Kangertech". Be careful. I broke one of mine when I cross threaded the parts together. Wasn't paying attention. Take your time and be careful unlike me.

looks like you have the coil assy in the wrong place
from the other picture it seems the dark base is first, coil assy, silver base, threaded tube, glass sleeve, top section is the assy order.

What a coincidence. I just happened to be cleaning one of mine when I stumbled across this.

that picture is confusing. It shows the coil going into the upper base which is what OP has done wrong. I did this once too, and now I remember all the shiny stuff and glass goes together and the colored piece gets the head and then it goes together with the base.
oh he is getting slack from me. When I first got my pt2s I did the same damn thing... TWICE lol
Tossed both gaskets on the coil heads of mine, thought they were just to keep stable in the box or something *whoops* lol
