My first rba was a stuttering clustermung of a miserable failure I got from one of the Chinese crap outlets. I think it was a "DD" clone or some such; tiny little fella with mesh coil wick that I could never build a coil for. I stuck with carto-tanks for a while but about a month ago, I dropped in to Phoenix Vapes in Austin and one of the guys there set me up with a kfun. I loved the airy draw and the over-the-top vapor productions. Sure, it goes through juice like a bat out of hell, but the quality is outstanding. Two weeks after and the original build was still giving me that new-carto crackel, but it started to taste a little off so I pulled it apart. I didn't want to build another coil and was wondering if I could just replace the wick. I removed the original cotton the guy at Phoenix had built and dry burned the coil to bright red about five or six times before I dusted off the crust and put in a new wick. Seems good as new two weeks after that, so first question; how long do I get away with that?
I was lured to RBAs by the reduction in consumables and the raves on ECF. I saw a lot of people complaining about leaks, and others telling them to fill it properly. I always use the bottom screw port to refill and I've had zero leaks. It seams to be a really sturdy and reliable rig, if not a little on the ugly side. I did pull out the jeweler's loop to have a look at the threading. The Germans make the Chinese look like one-eyed drunks when it comes to cutting a thread. It really is artful craftsmanship.
I can see getting a lot of mileage out of my kfun, but I like to have a variety of rigs, so I just wanted to ask if there are comparable or better RBAs.
