Ive been vaping fruit flavors for a month now and i see tons of threads on tobacco flavored juices.
My question is, why?

Why Not? Many of us like the taste of tobacco.
Some of us like to blend tobacco e-juice with other flavors. There are some great tobacco flavored e-juices available. Try it - you might like it :toast:

A large majority of vapers are either ex-smokers, or are using PVs to quit. After smoking for a long time (I did for over 35 years - and still smoke cigars now & then), you can appreciate a good tobacco flavor. For me, I can't vape sweet or fruity juices for long, but they are a nice change once in a while.

While there are few tobacco flavors that taste exactly like cigarettes, there are many that have some really good cigar or pipe flavors. I enjoy all kinds of flavors myself, but my daily vapes are either Boba's, Liqua Cuban Cigar, or Rawr's Poison....all great tobacco flavors.

Just personal preference.

I have to admit the tobacco flavors are not something that I have explored. When I smoked it was always a menthol, never a "tobacco".

Within a couple days of vaping I sorta didn't want anything to do with any tobacco or cigarette flavors that even reminded me of cigarettes. I have tried Copper Creek's House Blend and AVE's Boba's Bounty which I believe are classified as tobacco flavors. House Blend tasted like white cake to me and was like an all day vape for me until I got burnt out on it. Boba's tastes like Honey Graham crackers to me, not anywhere close to a preferred snack of mine. The e-juice flavor stays in my juice storage area and gets brought out every few weeks just to remind me again that I don't like Graham Crackers.

being new to this... I am going through a ton of different flavors right now.
I have tried a BUNCH of Pink Spot flavors, all but 1 of them taste like perfume.
Canterberry Crush, Pink Spot, Pear O Melon, Bing Cherry, Banana Nut Bread, Black Mamba, Raspberry Lemonade (free 15ml sample)

and a bunch of tobacco flavors as well... Gorilla Juice, Boba's Bounty as classified as tobacco, but they are more like full body vapes. (GJ is my new ADV...for now). I started with a Ry4 and at the time i REALLY liked it. Now after trying the fruit flavors... my taste buds are between Raspberry Lemonade and Gorilla Juice. With Halo Tribeca (tobacco) here and there.

I guess the point is.... with the vast amount of options, why not vape what tastes good to you, at that moment?!

was it the fear of needing something similar to the taste of a cigarette?

No I never had any cravings for the taste of an analog...simply put every so often I enjoy the taste. I DIY so I get to add all sorts of extras into my tobaccos- fruits, coffees, desserts, etc in varying ratios. With my tobaccos they are nowhere close to the same taste. Even though an analog smoker I really enjoyed a pipe full of cherry tobacco on occasion.

I have friends that will only vape tobacco flavors and have been vaping them exclusively for 2+ years. No interest in cookies/cake/cupcakes/pie flavors (idiots )

Maybe because I smoked menthol, tobacco liquids never interested me that much although the first year I vaped I did vape a "Newport" like liquid that I really liked. Moved onto fruity flavors.

Guess people just like different things.

I'm new to vaping, of course, and I'm intrigued by some of the novelty flavors available. I ordered a few like Cherry Cola, Red Bull, and the like. It'll be interesting to see how they turn out.

The first bottle of e-liquid I ever ordered was JC Original though so I suppose I'm in the tobacco loving group. I really enjoy vaping it even though it's 100% PG and has very low vapor.

I used mar* lights for over 20 years. I never cared for cigars or pipe tobacco, although I did like the smell. Now I almost exclusively vape NETs, pipe flavored mostly. I cannot explain why I love them so much, but I do.
I can vape other, more sweet/bakery juices once in a while, but a great tobacco flavor really speaks to me.

I've been vaping for about 5 months now and I've tried a lot of different juices. I'm not really 'afraid' to try something new, but I always come back to the tobacco flavors or variations there of. I REALLY like Johnson Creek's 100% VG line of flavors and most of them have an underlying tobacco flavor to them. First thing I gotta have in the morning is their Red Oak Tennessee Cured.
I've branched out and tried different stuff. Not a fan of the 'candies'. I like some fruity stuff-Halo's Malibu and Tiki Juice are great. Some concoctions I've made from EC Blend are really enjoyable, but I always vape more of the JC stuff.
In the end it just comes down to personal preference. There are some great tobacco flavors out there. Give 'em a shot. You may be surprised.

Most tobacco flavors taste nothing like tobacco. Personally fruit and dessert flavors get very sickening to me after 5 minutes. I prefer the tobacco lines of juices because they are usually mellow and smooth.

Right now my all day flavor is called kentucky maplewood. It's a mix of Carmel and maple syrup, but not overly sweet. It's considered a tobacco flavor.
