Wondering how hard others have pushed their Reos, personally I haven't gone below .5ohms with any of my builds on my Grand but I bet there are some out there that have gone lower.

I have an RM4, a Cyclone with AFC, and a Zenith with BF pin (an Odin on order as well). Never thought I'd say it but getting interested in moving down to the .2-.3ohm range and not sure if I should even try with my Grand. Have several other mech mods as well an iPV2 and a Duke so can use those instead if that would be better.

Let me know your thoughts and, if you are vaping below .5ohms on your Reo, would love to hear how you set up your builds and what toppers you are using.

I usually hover between 1-1.3 ohms depending in what liquid I use. If im vaping 18 mg I build around 1.3 ohms. Im tapering down to 12 mg so if I load up a Reo with it ill build a 1-1.1 ohm.

Im waitung on an LP Grand and an Odin in the mail, so that may change after I play around with it for a bit.

But right now its perfect for me.

I'm usually between .25 and .35 and haven't noticed any I'll effects. For some reason I got some serious arcing with vtc5's, but arcing has been minimal with my vtc4's and he2's.

Here's what I have currently on my cyclone: dual 24awg 7/6 wrap around a 3/32 bit

Pardon the ugly 3 day old wick and coil.

I generally rock duals on a RM3 (I'm in it for flavour) at .5 ohms - no issues with arc'ing (using noalox) or heat (battery or spring sag).

I have run dual RM4's at .35 trying to chase flavour in direct lung hits - not really my cup of chai, but no gear issues (other than seriously shorter vape time on a AW 18650 1600).

All of this is done on grands for the battery size and amp safety.

A bit off topic, but I'm surprised at the number of folks that have experienced arcing with the VTC5s. I did, and it's the reason I switched to button top batteries. I'd never had a problem with Sonys in my tube mods; but they don't play well with Reos, for some reason, with sub ohm builds.
My usual build is ~.45 to .5 ohms with 26g wire. No problems at all with AW 1600s or purple Efest 2100s.

Day-um, son - that'll take the chill off a prairie winter night.

It was short lived. .5 is the magic number, maybe even .4. Did my first real "cloud chasing" build the other day on an Elm rda, .18ohm. Hit it once, ripped the coils out of it, and continued on with my Reo+cyclone.

I hear you. A guy at work insisted I try his <.2ohm build in a dripper. It felt.... angry. Different strokes, and all that.

And he measured that how? At low levels like that, it's really flirting with battery limits and also tolerances of what your average DIY gear can measure. I'm not a fan of that.

2 weeks ago i saw a guy vaping a clone tube mod with a Plume on top, so i asked him what build he had. "24g dual parallels that probably meter at about 0.5Ω".

"You measured it?"

"Nah - need to get me an Ohm meter"

i predict the late 2010s will be a rich and fertile ground for reconstructive dentistry.

I ran into a similar situation this past week. I stopped in to one of our local B&Ms to see a friend. A kid came in to buy some juice, and we started talking about his dripper set up. He had just done his first build, and was asking what we thought. He had 3 coils, 2 of which were vertical, 1 was horizontal. The battery was a 'no name', that I'd never seen before. It was some unbranded 18650 that came in a kit. I asked what the resistance was; and he didn't know. I said: "Lets check it", and asked for an ohm meter. The kid said: :"Yeah, I gotta get one of those." It measured 2.1 ohms.
That's when I went nuts, and went into a rant! Kid probably thought I was crazy.

On a Grand with robs sub-ohm contacts I never pushed it lower than .35.
On my fuse modded Grand I've done .21 and could go lower if I was feelin frisky, but I never recommend going lower than .2

The spring is the electrical bottle neck, but also the safety. If you have some nice VTC5's a 20A fuse in place of the spring that will let you get to .2 easy.

i'd suggest correct decimal point usage, else feel nothing but sympathy for the guy using a 3.25Ω coil. That would not scare birds.

I hear you Seanap, but i reckon the spring Grand is every bit as good as the fuse modded one, by which i mean even at some of my brutal low resistances, it works just fine. I cannot tell the difference. On my ADV Grand, i run 0.25Ω R41 coils and RxW because its something i don't expect to have to mess about with for some time.

i'm thinking of getting Rob to refit another Grand of mine to the same specs, LP and all that, just because they get the most use. Much as i love my RM2's (and i have about 12 of them - HRH uses nothing else), once you rip out some dual coil builds, the paradigm shifts and nothing else will do.
