Experienced coil builder looking for the most ACCURATE ohm meter out there. Something with a 510 connection.
I have an old (ancient) Fluke which only reads to the tenth of an ohm, and I'm not 100% against building an ohm reader out of a multimeter but I don't want to pay $250 for a brand new Fluke.

I just want something reasonably priced and as accurate as possible.

Any help is appreciated =)

I gotcha bro, I actually scoured the entire internet on this same topic a few weeks ago lol. Your in luck (so was I), it's actually on fasttech believe it or not.

$17.61 2-in-1 Combo Tester (Ohm Meter + Volt Meter) for E-Cigarette - w/ drawstring pouch at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I couldn't believe it, it's only $18 (unless you don't want to wait and get it on ebay, then it's a little more because of the thieves :p), it's actually made of metal instead of just a cheap plastic black box, also reads volts for your mod, but most importantly: has an accuracy of +/-.1ohm. (Most are only accurate to +/- .4ohm's) this things a gem and works great. One day they'll come out with a 510 fluke multimeter, I've been thinking about soldering my fluke to a spare 510 so I can just screw it in.

Hope this helps man!

One of these I got from FT some weeks ago is consistent at +0.12Ω vs the readings of my eVic, sigelei 20W and zeroable digital multimeter. As a bit of paranoia I put a sticker on it for reminder. It doesn't meter volts however so I'm debating if I should get one of the ±1% $17.61 items or just a volt meter adapter.

Nice find, I was looking at the Smoktech Omnitester at vapordna, and was thinking of getting one, but looks plastic and does note a +/- 0.4% accuracy, but then I would of probably bought the magma or the Cats rda also, so I could get free shipping, lmao, saved me $120 bucks, lol Thanks Tree.

If you look closely at the advertized accuracy, the one from FastTech it says +/-0.1 ohm and the others are advertizing +/-0.4% which is 0.004 ohm if figured for 1 ohm, so the latter would be more accurate providing that the advertizing is correct.

good eye. the % sign compared to the Ω sign makes a huge difference when determining which one is more accurate. i knew the +/- 0.4Ω spec seemed strange. i have a tobeco ohm meter (china-made) and its never off. reads the same as my provari and DMM. accuracy within 0.004Ω..now thats more like it. thanks for spotting that RWDY.

No problem man, I've bought quite a bit myself just to get free shipping :p, sometimes it's nice to have priority shipping via supersonic jet to your doorstep for free lol. BTW if you ever decide to get one of the magma/cats RDA's, go with the cat's (I don't own a cat's but I wasn't impressed with the magma). I had my hopes up so high for the magma, thought it was going to be the scientific breakthrough of RDA's, but it honestly wasn't up to par with your average RDA's. Don't get me wrong it's a good vape, and has unbelievable flavor, but it's hard to keep your coils from shorting (and the posts are symmetrical, uuurgh!), but the vapor is just wispy and dries out crazy fast. I thought the vapor amount* was going to jump because the air is right under the coils, but I think that just vapes one spot on your coils super hard if that makes sense, and that spot gets dry making you stop pulling early. But man if your going for a warm, and kayfun-like flavor, then it's definitely for you, I use it now to judge flavors, or make them better if they don't work for dripping.

~Sorry for the ramble lol, I was just biting my nails for the magma a few months ago, because the design just looks beautiful, the domed cap, small chamber, and directed airflow (that you can't drill if you don't like it small), makes it look like the perfect RDA, but I think it shoots the air straight into the dome or something, because it's just good performance, not excellent. However I haven't tried the cats, that thing looks like it combines the good of RDA's with the good of the magma, you know JD will bring you something good too, if not then you can always sell it for double later on! :D

Glad I could help brother, especially saving 120$ lol, that'd hurt me for sure.

Whoops nice catch, sorry everybody. Although if you already bought the one I suggested, I tested it's accuracy with my fluke 289 and it seems to be accurate to +/-0.1%, I love mine and it hasn't varied from my graphing fluke (the first number after the decimal is always right on point). If it's agreeing with my fluke every time, it's good enough for me.

~Let's hope that the asian company misunderstood the difference between % and ohm, and they actually meant %. That's how it's looking with my fluke, it's an epic little metal box reguardless, and again, agrees with my 289 every time.

Fasttech email said:
Thank you for shopping at FastTech.com. We're pleased to tell you that order for ohm meter has been shipped!

Now the wait to see how long it sits in China. lol Oh well, mine still works but glitchy Will be interesting to check the readings between the two. Know just the guy to sell the old one to once I get this. lol

Fluke makes more simplified multimeters than the 250$ models. Same circuitry, just without features like a fused amp port, high and low memory, backlighting, the list goes on. Your basic needs for an ohm meter and possibly volt meter can still be had and by fluke. I've seen such meters at sears for around 50$

True, they're all basically the same accuracy, the cheapest fluke available will be more than enough for any hardcore builder. If you need more than you need to take a break from the sub-subohming :p. I love the features on my 289 though, I don't only use it for vaping (mostly though lol) but it's so cool to have a real-time graphing chart that's recorded so you can analyze your ohm's or volts changing, even current. It's like an electrocardiograph for your vape equipment :D.
