What's the most difficult/fanciest FUNCTIONAL coil you've ever built?

Hey builders, I recently wrapped a really nice 28ga super-nano coil (28ga on itself), which I was going to stop at and just call it a day. But I got a bee in my behind and decided to wrap the longest one I could for the heck of it. And I ended up with a good 1&1/2 inch line of perfect super-nano goodness (which I usually don't like because you can't wick *through it, you have to lay it on a bed of cotton/wick, which burns easy & goes dry fast in my experience.

So I decided to wrap the super-nano on a tiny 1/32" drill bit, and turn it into the tiniest clapton coil ever. It came out to .5's and it's a P'd off little chap, it heats beautifully from the middle out, shoots great vapor in all directions, it's definitely got the surface area hehe, but the best part is (to me anyway): it's a super-nano that I can put a wick through. It's not a groundbreaking achievement or anything, it's just I love how fast super-nano's start producing, but I hate just laying the coil on a bed of cotton, it doesn't wick well IME (maybe I'm not doing it right :p). So now I have the best of both worlds, fast vapor, and even wicking, which equates to big, dense, one second pulls and rarely gives me a dry/burnt hit.

It's definitely the best single coil I've made in a long time, which I didn't expect because it's so "fancy", but I'm diggin' it, pretty solid. It made my parents tell me to open a window, and had my brothers girlfriend coughing up a storm...the next room over. (which I felt bad about, yet accomplished at the same time). But here it is, isn't it cute? DAAAW

***Be sure to leave your crazy/difficult *functional* coils too! Pics would be nice, and it doesn't have to be totally off-the-wall or anything, just something that's out of the ordinary to you.***

deedups! with all due respect, you sir, are insane! well, more like a mad scientist.

this one wasn't easy too, tho, either . . . .

...and ive always dug youre style, pdib.
i remember that one! i believe it was your avatar for a while.
i never did get around to trying it.
now that mesh to rope wick looks outstanding. was it really all that hard to make the mesh to rope?

Now you're just showing off dex. ;p

No way Jose! I always say to be proud of what you build even if its a single coil. Every build has its builders own taste and hardwork so I respect every build I come across from everyone!!

No kidding!!

No that is a crazy awesome build!! So you use non-resistance wire as the "Bus Bar"? It's actually an ingenious build IMO...

Its regular Kanthal A-1. I try to build my builds so everyone can try them out without having to buy anything extra!

Chipotle.
I made a "tween post" build after seeing one like it on instagram somewhere, it took forever to get the hot spots out where they would touch up against the posts but I did manage to have this working for an entire day, 26ga wire wrapped over a 1/4" piece of steel round stock, I wrapped it off of the atomizer and then spiraled the entire setup in to the posts. Came in at ~.3 ohms, tightening the screws was interesting and also a huge pain as it moved the coil all over the place. Flavor was good, vapor was a bit lacking and there was almost zero throat hit.

It was decent, but no where near worth the trouble it took to make it.

Nicely done but i put out the tweenpost to target the very low ohm vapers. Somewhere in the neighborhood of .2-.18 for it to work the best. The Original tweenpost also had an very small I.D to be able to burn the liquid properly. But there has been alot of tween posts that has too big of an inside diameter and too high of a resistance.

Yeah, it was definitely lacking in one aspect or another. I was going to attempt it with the same diameter and 24g to drop the overall resistance some but I ultimately decided against it and abandoned the build style all together. I don't generally build anything under .25 due to personal preferences but I would agree that the tweenpost is definitely a build that needs to be ~.20 or lower.
