when I have to keep putting in three or four drops every so often? Yet I have all this juice that is built up within the filter. I don't get it.

Sounds like a standard cartridge IMO. I gave up and went with cartomizers or else dripping, but you can try modding your cart with blue foam or PTB (pyramid tea bag) or some other stuff that will wick better than the stuff they come filled with. Then you don't have to top off so often.

I liked the blue foam stuff, but when I used it I cut it about 1/2 as long as it needs to be and it held more liquid and still didn't leak. You can buy the stuff anyplace where aquarium stuff is sold and it's fairly inexpensive too. The stuff is called "Marineland Rite Size U":

I agree 100%! I've tried carts with every mod I've learned, and they just don't do it for me! I LOVE carto's, and I'm testing the FLüXomizer from GotVapes.com, and I love it! They're a highly improved CE2...no fillers and clear, so you can see the juice left. They fit 510's, and I'm using mine on my eGo!

I did the same thing. I have far less trouble with cartos, but I'm not crazy about the Clearomizers. The juice I use is just too thick, so I'm using the 510s and Mega 808s from IKV and LR Boges. They're wonderful!

What's the difference between a atomizer, cartomizer and a cartridge????

Skeeterkck

The atomizer is the piece that heats up and causes the liquid to vaporize.

The cartridge is the mouthpiece that you pop onto the end of the atomizer, it holds the liquid and allows the liquid to contact the atomizer and become vaporized.

A cartomizer can be used in the place of an atomizer/cartridge combo because it is both parts combined into one piece. It's a cartridge with a built-in atomizer. They still have the cartridge filler inside so you must be careful not to continue to use them when they begin to get empty or else you will singe the filler and ruin the flavor.

A clearomizer (aka CE2) is like a cartomizer except that they took the stuffing out and made the outer casing see-through so you can see inside it and see how much liquid is left. They also make them where they are not see-through but only call them CE2 instead.

Hey Skeet,
Cart, short for cartridge, usually a cup, containing some kind of fill material to absorb/saturate with e-liquid, that is wicked into the separate atomizer which creates the vapor. Or, many people just drip e-liquid directly through a drip tip mouth piece into the atomizer. A Carto, short for cartomizer, a tube, (metal or plastic, (possibly clear)), may have filler medium, or E2, no filler. May come prefilled with eliquid, or be filled by user, using various methods, or syringe/needle/tip, that has an built in atomizer. The cart makes a PV a three piece unit. The carto makes a PV a two piece unit. My preference is Carto/Clearo But, many prefer a cart. JMHO

Cheers,

No you cannot do a blue foam mod with a cartomizer.

And the reason you keep a standard cartomizer damp is so you don't singe the stuffing - if you singe the stuffing you might as well throw it out. I can get 4-7 days off a carto by keeping it damp. I need to add juice much less often with a cartomizer.

Re blue foam - I love it in carts. A beginner way to use it is to make the stuffing as deep as the cart but a bit tapered on the bottom (inner) half and just very slightly wider than the cart to help it stay in place. For my carts that are smaller than 510 I either cut down the precut 510 pieces from Strictlyejucie.com or cut if from the bulk material (Marineland Rite-size U Foam Sleeve from the aquarium dept of Petsmart). A more advanced way is to make the foam shorter than the inside of the cart and just try to keep it positioned at the top (cart will hold more juice, but maybe more chance of a big spill)

You can put a standard DSE901 atomizer + 901 carts or drip tip right on a KR808D-1. 510 atomizer + carts or drip tip requires an adapter. I don't recommend using a drip tip unless you have manual batteries because they are more sealed against death by juice leak. Autos are dependent on the drag sensor in the open tip of the battery.

BTW - with carts and dripping you have to add juice much more often vs cartomizers.

Wait wait wait. All of V4L's cartos are not prefilled. They sell 5-packs of both WOW cart and Coolcart blanks. You can also buy any standard resistance KR808D-1 blank cartomizers anywhere. Like Litecigusa.net has some Premium soft-cap cartomizers for KR808D-1 with good reviews (you want soft cap for cartos)

And if you ever get a prefilled V4L carto you don't like the juice of, you can spin most of it out - see Youtube video Reverse Taryn Spin. BTW - I have used the reverse Taryn spin with success. But I do not use the carto push method of filling - too messy and some think it can shorten the life of a carto. I did do it the one time I spun juice out of a carto that wasn't working - since the juice was already in the condom I used it to push the juice into a blank then spent time trying to get the air channel clear. For normal filling - the soft white cap on the mouth end pops out easily with an unbent paperclip (stick it in just enough to pop the cap off). Or you can use a V4L drip tip instead of the soft white cap. I would not drip into it - the juice would likely go down the air channel. But it means you do not need a paperclip to add juice to a carto and also is cool on your lips.

Another tip - if the vapor of a carto gets light or just a bit dry, try tilting the whole ecig with the carto down and LED up for about 5 seconds. That can help distribute juice toward the top. If that doesn't help then add juice.

I have been busy since I have started this thread. So I never knew what a drip tip was and just kept vaping the way I usually do using the Riva 901 / atomizer / and cartridge. But it seems I am wasting a lot of liquid every time since I need to top it off within the foam or it just tastes nasty!

I am going to look into the drip tips that I found on Liberty Flights. I could've sworn a drip tip was included in the starter kit, I will have to check when I get home. Can anyone else verify that purchased from Liberty Flights -- Riva 901 that it came with a drip tip?

Basically I would put the drip tip instead of the cartridge onto the atomizer correct?

I don't think that came with a drip tip (I see no mention of a drip tip in the product description). You might be thinking of a blank cartridge that came on the atomizer. If you do have (or get) a drip tip, though, yes - you'd place that on the atomizer instead of the cartridge. What you do then is drip 2-3 drops directly onto the bridge (little metal mesh part that sticks up) of the atomizer and vape until it needs more. Drip tips are designed with a large hole through them so you can do this without having to remove the tip. Depending on how thick your liquid is, though, you might have to blow into it a little bit to get the liquid to go down through the drip tip and hit the atomizer.
