As someone who owns a Provari and has read the Provari forums for some 10 months now, I believe I can attest to the durability of the Provari as being equal to any mechanical mod. Call me a fanboy if you must, it won't hurt my feelings. I'm just reporting factual stories that I have read here on ECF.
The above posts state that they wouldn't fork over the dough for a Provari because it isn't mechanical and utilizes electronics; after so many drops it will break and even with proper care over time the electronics will eventually fail. RUBISH.
Over the last few months owners have reported dropping their Provari in a swimming pool, forgetting it was in a pants pocket while the pants were in the wash, dropping it off a 1 story ledge onto concrete, forgetting they laid it on a dump truck tire and it subsequently got run over by the dump truck, and falling from a pocket on a racing motorcycle and bouncing down the highway. After each incident, the Provari continued to work without incident.
(This is of course allowing the Provari to dry once it was soaked, or after the juice delivery device which was totally destroyed was replaced.) The Provari is built like a tank, and is immune to immersion in water.
Even if a Provari needs repair after the warranty is expired, you can have the comfort of knowing that Provape will repair it for as long as you own it. No Chinese mod can offer that service, as the Chinese manufacturers don't do repairs.
I bought two AGA T2 RBA's with the intent to use them on my mechanical Silver Bullet. Well, after trying sub 1 ohm coils on the Silver Bullet, I found that I didn't care for the extreme heat of the low resistance coils and the resulting harsh vape. Vaping at 15-20 watts is crazy to me.
I much prefer the more standard 2.0 ohm coil on the Provari; I can then adjust the voltage to my particular flavor of juice. This is what works for me.
As I stated before in this thread, if you are interested in a Provari but are waiting for Provape to offer variable wattage...don't. It isn't likely to happen any time soon. If Provape was going to offer variable wattage they would have by now.
