What's the reasoning for vaping 0mg Nic juice? ... I don't get it

I was in a bar / restaurant a couple of days ago and noticed another person vaping (guy looked to be in his late 60s). The guy was using what looked like a non-adjustable EGO style stick battery with what looked like an 'old-school' Kanger T3 clearomizer on top.

I struck up a conversation with him for just a moment and asked him what type of juice he was vaping ... The guy never told me the brand or flavor, but said it was 0mg Nic when I asked him.

That was basically the end of our conversation.

My question to you folks is this .... Why would anyone keep vaping if they had no nicotine in there juice? For me, the reason I vape in the first place is to keep off cigarettes. I am obviously addicted to nicotine, and have replaced the nicotine from cigarettes for the nicotine found in my juice.

If I could wean myself completely off nicotine, I think at that point I would just give up on vaping altogether. Someday I would like to be nicotine free, but for now, I just can't see it in my future.

BTW .... I have not smoked a cigarette for 15 months, but I am still vaping on my fairly strong 16mg Nic DIY juice.

for some people it is partially a physical addiction, the actual putting the cig in their mouth and puffing. I had a coworker that used a cut down pencil to quit because it served for his physical addiction.

so vaping 0MG also serves that exact need.

I tend to rebuild my coils everyother day. Do I need to? No, but one thing I really miss about smoking my Cigars and pipes was all the prep work that went into each smoke. So now that Im vaping I have lost that aspect and my mind and body miss it. So I recoil or at the very least rewick my tank or dripper every day...

But I bounce between 3mg and 6mg. I still need the nic.

I weaned off nic after about nine months of vaping and stayed off it completely for six months. I stared vaping three years ago. I did that because I thought I was addicted to nicotine and wanted to get rid of the addiction. After about six months off nic, I vaped it for a month solid and then quit it again for a month. I was not addicted to it and I still vape a bit of nic once in a while for the TH. I found that it took about 15 months for me to really get over the cigarette addiction. After that whole experience I realized I had not been addicted to nicotine alone, but to the cocktail of chemicals in cig smoke.

I still vape for the same reason I still drink decaff coffee. And like drinking decaff, I can take it or leave it :)

There are MANY reasons for anything. You could have just um.... asked the guy. His answer may be one of many reasons that could have answered your question.

I vape 0 nic and I couldn't care less if you are trying to figure out why I would do such a thing. But if you ask in a respectful way I will indulge you with the reasons.

I was once asked by a fellow vaper what I was vaping and what my nic was. I told him the flavor and that it was 0 nic. He made a comment that it was "stupid" to vape 0 nic. I smiled and remarked (being a non-smoker) that it is much more stupid to have started smoking in the first place, and that my usage of a mod is for pleasure while he was dependent on his to quit a dumb habit.

I know the majority of people on here are using to quit smoking and I applaud that. Many have completely quit and are on 0 nic for many reasons that include the pure enjoyment of vaping. Many people here have quit smoking and left vaping. Many are struggling and use this forum as support to keep them smoke free. I applaud and commend that. A minority here have never smoked but enjoy vaping, and vaping with 0 nic. People who can access this forum are living in a part of the world where they can enjoy certain freedoms in life. Mine is the ability to vape whatever the hell I want whether I am/was a smoker or never was one.

i went through a bottle of vaping 30ml 0nic eliquid for a week, and I did it without vaping any nicotine ejuice on the side. The action of hand to mouth-visual signs of blowing vapor out your mouth was enough to keep me away from nicotine for a week. I went back to nicotine afterwards as I am not looking to personally quit the nicotine, but I can see how one can vape 0mg nicotine to keep off cigarettes, it is still satisfying and will fill their needs to keep them off smoking.

Well, I guess the "Hand to Mouth" addiction can be strong too.

Maybe that's why I never could stop smoking cigarettes while using nicotine patches or that Nicorette gum.

But, E-cigs sure have worked flawlessly for me. :)

Looks like you may have just answered your own question. ;)

I've always said that if I do get to zero nic, I will continue to vape. I do NOT know how to just relax and have my hands do absolutely nothing. If I didn't vape, that hand to mouth habit will be putting food in my face. That would not be a healthy thing.

That is one of the reasons that the patch and gum have a dismal success rate. It doesn't address the habit that we've lovingly cultivated over years of smoking. Gum just is nasty, even though they are now 'flavored'

He might have just replied "0 nic" because he mistook you for someone who intended to chastise him for emitting second-hand nicotine vapor.

Don't think so ... I was vaping at the bar too.

The guy was not real friendly anyway ... seemed like he didn't want to talk to me. After I asked him nicely what he was vaping, he never commented on my vape setup. Basically disinterested.

No big deal

Usualy vapers in the wild are anxious to talk, exchange info and comaraderie...
