What's The Skinny On Import Duty

Sorry if this has been answered many times before but searches failed me. Im looking to buy some mods from Greece and am curious about import duty/ tax fees here in the US. Doesn't seem to be a vendor here carrying what I need so overseas purchase is eminent. Is it based on percentage of retail, flat fee, or what?

It's based on a percentage of the value of the shipment, the coded category of the item/items being shipped, and (I think) is paid to the shipper (DHL, FedEx, etc) upon or prior to delivery. I vaguely recall that the percentage is 2.5% for ecigarettes/vaporizer products.

many EU sites do not charge American sales VAT or duty, if they should or not is another story. but the price you see is the price you pay plus conversion rate usually and there is no duty deceleration after the fact.
