Well, you expressed dissatisfaction with use of the word "analog" but you made your argument using the definition of "analogous", which is a different word. It's true that analog is not necessarily accurate, having been converted to a noun and applied as a synonym for a tobacco cigarette, but it's just enough of a stretch to be quite humorous, and whoever thought it up was on a roll that day, IMHO.
