What's up with the Utah Department of Health and this crazy quote?

I was reading a story and read this crazy quote. I'm thinking the spokesperson is referring to the CDC study and really misrepresenting the numbers.

"There are more students using an e-cigarette than any other form of tobacco," he said. "It’s becoming the No. 1 nicotine delivery of choice."

Read it in context here:

Yup, and to me this looks like a new tobacco Control propaganda tactic: Guilt by association. Make everyone think that e-cigarettes are being used to deliver illicit drugs.

The only problem with their theory is that the other product is derived from an oil. I am told that using a liquid with oil in a standard e-cigarette will gum up the atomizer, which was designed to work with glycols such as glycerine and propylene glycol.

There are atomizers available that are designed to work with those oils, but I don't believe those specialized atomizers are being sold in many (if any) e-cigarette stores, and they certainly are not being sold at the corner gas station or convenience stores.

Even SNL did a skit showing e-cigs as a "...." smoking device.

All those opposed to ecigs are really doing everything they can
to demonize e-cigarettes in preparation for the FDA making public
their proposed regulations.

The FDA will claim they have to step in to regulate due to public demand
for regulating a very dangerous product.

Thanks to CDC director Tom Frieden's fear mongering claims about e-cigs and youth, I suspect every new national, state and local survey on youth use of e-cigs will generate news headlines "Health officials shocked by increased youth use of e-cigs".

The reality is that just as e-cig use by adults smokers continues to sharply increase, increasingly more teen smokers (and probably nonsmokers) will use e-cigs.

The biggest problem with government surveys on use of e-cigs (and cigars, smokeless tobacco and hookah) is they only ask about "ever use" and "past-30-day use".

If surveys asked about daily use, they'd find that virtually all (if not all) daily e-cig users are/were daily smokers.

Which is why I always view survey results with extreme skepticism until I know *exactly* how the questions were worded. Because depending on how questions are worded, a survey taker can elicit any results he wants, so if he's decided going in what results he's looking for, he words the questions accordingly. The CDC survey is a perfect example of this.
