ya know, can someone take a look at this site please Tececig Electronic Cigarettes and see if the atty's they use are 808's and not 501's? to be honest i'm not sure at first glance they seem to be 808's but i'm definately not an expert.

the reason i question is that 808's apparently generally only have like a 2 hour atty life and as said when i use it i get a good 6 or so hours out of it. could these be 501's? lol sounds silly since i just started a thread about how much i love 808's lol

the tececig phoenix is a three piece kit; battery, atomizer, cartridge

the revolution is a two piece kit; battery and cartomizer

I don't know of any kr808d1 kits that are three piece. They all seem to use cartomizers which are an atomizer/cartridge in one.

Rob - if it has male batteries and uses female cartos AND is at least 9.2mm diameter for the slim model) then it is probably either KR808D-1 or KR808D-2 and there is no way to tell by looking at those photos or any photos.

oke doke, thank you. i'm just gonna order some manual atty's from another vendor and if they fit the carto's i'm using great, if not i'm only out 20 bucks, and i'll just pick up the chargers for the new manual atty's later

Manual attys? Atty fit cartos? There is something confused in your lingo.

There is no such thing as manual attys. attys are atomizers. Only batteries come in auto or manual.

And you cannot fit an atomizer in or on a carto. Atomizers use cartridges as in battery + atomizer + cartridge. KR8 instead uses battery + cartomizer. (But a manual KR808D-1 can optionally use a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and drip tip to test juices.)

First off, as far as the slims go, it seems to me there's actually quite a bit of love for them. It seems most of the hate actually stems from people getting ripped off - so it's more of dislike for the companies, not the actual product. I liked my KR8 kit for what it was. I regret paying more for mine than I should have, but not much since don't regret dropping the cigs ;)

Secondly, what businesses do to make money sucks some times... but it's almost always about making money, not friends. Like I said, it sucks at times, but that's the way business is.... This goes for manufacturers slapping whoever's name on their product all the way down to the retailer making ridiculous claims. For example, the company referenced above...

    Tececig's website said:
The Tececig Phoenix Blank Cartridges hold roughly 1ml of TeceLiquid, the equivalent of roughly 20 drops, the same as about 2 packs of cigarettes.
That's amazing!!!! So, if I vape through five of their carts in one day, it's the same as smoking a carton of cigs?!? LOL

BTW, just poking a little fun at that claim... not trying to be a jerk. But damn, they're also expensive.

I normally wouldn't recomend V2Cigs, but they're getting rid of some old stock now, 6.99-7.99 for 5-packs of KR8 pre-filled cartos. I thought their flavors were decent. Their product in general is good, just over-priced normally.

That comes from answering the same questions day after day, and we know that it's easy for a noob to get ther fingers typing faster than than their brain.
We understand that it goes right along with the learning curve, but there are only so many nice ways to say that you are being had by that site that you are buying your stuff from.
There is a list of vendors at the bottom of this forum, and it is suggested over and over that noobs spend some time there looking at the different products so that they will understand what things should cost. If you bought that starter kit from the site that you listed, you paid about $100.00 more than you should have.
Now do you understand why we can get frustrated?

no i don't. it's a forum, i know how to use them, i'm on several, and i don't understand y "vets" of any site waste their time getting "frustrated". noobs do what noobs do on every forum, so what? y get "frustrated" about it? is your life really that petty?

there have been plenty of people that answered with a helpful response and no sarcasm. thanks to those people. to the rest of you, get a life, seriously, it's an internet forum, there's no reason to get upset.

I think the 808's and 401's have a tarnished reputation because of the number of ripoff vendors that have used those models - guilt by association. I think they're perfectly fine, but when you get to ECF you have a group of people who remember getting ripped off and slam products that they started with in a number of cases. Many others here laud those as the first step to keeping off of cigarettes and appreciate them.

It's important to remember that this is the hobbyist subset of the million or so people using ecigs, so you'll get that arrogance and one-upsmanship that any hobby has within it's membership.

That said, it is kind of funny that some members need to submit sarcastic crabby responses. They don't need to respond at all, so they must feel compelled to attack or defend. I must note though that I'm tempted to snap at the lazy who just join to have someone do all the digging without doing some reading, searching and homework themselves. It's so easy to search on a term you don't understand, like atomizer or cartomizer, that even this thread drives me nuts. I like to help out new users just like I got help, but a little effort earns my respect.

Bottom line, if it works and you like it, it's all good.

The jargon level on this site is higher than I've seen in more highly technological forums. Of course noobs are going to be confused. no reason to get frustrated about it, just try to gently correct them until they learn the vocabulary.

It takes some time to get the jargon down. Hang in there, it's worth it. There'd prolly be 500 to 1000 people here in the noob forum at any given time if we didn't use the super-secret hanshake strange language that makes no sense to someone stumbling in from a Google search. I kept a legal pad beside me and bounced from the sticky section (at the top of the new members forum) back here to decipher the language.

Cartomizers = filter tips like a cigarette with stuffing and a heating element inside that creates the smoke-like vapor

Expressing disinclination for something isn't "hate". It's a preference, and everyone is entitled to theirs.

The only issue I've seen with KR8's is their lack of battery life, and the fact that they look *too much* like an analog; which is just asking for REAL trouble from REAL haters under certain circumstances.

1.) KR808 batteries are expensive. I can buy 2 - RCR123As for my mod for less than I can buy a single KR808 battery.

2.) KR808 batteries are short-lived. I can vape most of a day on a single set of RCR123As, but the KR808 battery won't even hold out for half an hour of my use. Down-time for charging is irritating and, if I carried enough KR8 batteries to get me through the day, I'd have about $96.00-worth of batteries in my pocket. As it is, I carry a spare set of batteries with me at all times, and that only amounts to a $10.00 investment. I've got an extra $86.00 to spend on atties and niquid...yay!

3.) KR8 batteries are tougher to come by than batteries for BB mods. Should my main and backup batteries for my mod nuke themselves (blowing my leg off, or something), I can stop by any Radio Shack (on my way to the hospital to have my leg sewn back on) and buy a couple new ones that'll work perfectly. Radio Shacks are literally everywhere. KR8 batteries are a little hard to come by, comparatively speaking--never saw one in a Radio Shack, personally-speaking.

4.) Tooting on a KR8 is more likely to get you the "You can't smoke here!" line, than hitting on something that doesn't actually look like an analog. People *may* look at you funny, or grumble that you're smoking when they aren't actually certain if you are or not, or somebody might make a crack about that being a cool-looking ....; but, you won't have some security guard skidding to a stop in front of you, waving his billy club around like Buford T. Pusser, screaming at you about your cigarette being illegal.

    Just my preference....tomato/tamahtoe, potato/patahtoe..ad infinitum.
