I work as a production machinist for the largest air conditioning valve manufacturer in the US. I work mostly with 5 axis cnc lathes and various cnc mills (all old but fairly well maintained), but we do use a lot of screw machines in the
shop as well. Actually most of our equipment is so sadly out of date that I find myself impressed that we are able to maintain the production levels and quality standards that we do. I'm usually the guy arguing till I'm blue in the face trying to get the right equipment to even do my job and I don't kiss enough .... to climb the management ladder, so I am going back to school to become an electrical engineer.
