Have you ever noticed why some people receive more replies to their threads then others do ? Do you get more replies do to your question ? I have seen the same topic by two different people but one of them received a lot more. Is it the catchy title ? Is it the more freinds you have the more replies ? What realy gets a person a lot of comments to his/her threads ? I just find it interesting. I would like to know what others think. And maybe some suggestions on how to receive more answers to your topic. God Bless and Peace out.

I personally believe it depends on a wide variety of variables:

1: Interest in the Topic
2: Original Poster, (Included in this are many factors
2a: Are they new? Lots of folks like to help out the new folks)
2b: Do they have a good reputation for valuable input?
2c: Do they have a reputation as a trouble starter?
2d: Do they have a reputation as a recognized expert?
2e: Unfortunately this also plays a part: are they Popular or Unpopular?
3: Experience of the original poster or those who have already replied to the thread. Are they a recognized expert?
4: Number of posts by the OP can also be a factor in a persons decision to reply.
5: If you read through the thread and there is a reply by someone you have had issues with in the past would you still post, some will, some won't.

These are a few of the aspects that I personally believe go into a persons decision to reply or not reply to a post.

Just my personal input :D

Unless I am bored and just feel like reading something, I generally only open the threads that hold any interest to me. Or, like Darth said, if I see a thread with little to no responses, and I know anything about what they're asking/talking about, I'll generally chime in.

If there is another thread similar to the one I was interested in, I'd most likely open it, but probably wouldn't respond twice. Why? Well, simply because I don't like repeating myself, if it isn't necessary :)

Other than that, I think Darth has a pretty good run-down on the ordeal.

Part of the reason too I think is that this place is incredibly active and threads move fast, and few people have the time to scan them all. I know that often when I'm browsing the new or general sections for questions that maybe I can answer, I check first if there's a question in the title I think I might be able to offer an answer to, and how many replies there already are that probably already answered it.

Indeed - being a helpful sort of chap, I usually reply to a thread that has 1 or 2 replies if I can contribute. But if the thread has 5+ responses, or the query has been answered succinctly then I may not bother.

+1 Levitas - I look for posts with few replies that I could help. I even bump posts with no replies that I can't help to get it some attention. Posts get buried. Politeness helps and the tone of the post/thread does matter. Otherwise, it's random! Sometimes an interesting post will get buried until resurrected by accident.

Edit: humans being herd animals, some folks like to jump in to hot threads, not me. :)

Yes, all good points. Just one idiosyncrasy for me - I stay away from fan threads. Someone loves their PV, juice or vendor, great. I'm no fan of that.

That is a very valid point. There are a lot of folks on here that will defend their PV to the death. I myself am an original member of the Go Go Nation. We do love this PV, it does work amazingly, but some people do take it way to far. I have even seen threats of physical violence because of someone saying something negative about a certain model of PV.

If I see that kind of stuff in my Go Go Specific thread I report it to the Mods and have them delete it because we are all here because we use PV's, we have a single point of reference and commonality, we traded in the Analogs for the Digitals and we are all legal adults. Unfortunately we do not all act like sometimes :D

I try to answer threads that have been ignored, it's easy the newbies forum has drop-downs on the bottom for "Show threads from the..." set for 2 days, "Sort threads by:" then Order threads in.. Ascending Order, and presto - buried threads of a noobs cry for help!! :)

Any post I can give someone that might bring a smile to their face when the frustration is to the point of
"the stress is killing me, just need a cigarette to calm me" is a win for me.
I know how bad it can be, I been there, done that, got the T-shirt!!

When I first started posting, it seemed no one wanted to help me. Drove me crazy! Now I just jump in with both feet and give my help and a little of my cracked humor! By the way Iffy I have two orders coming this week. I need to hang out in the tree with ya! I was wondering if there is room in the cooler for my Diet DP or will I have to bring my own? LOL!!! Got to love stalking TN and the mailman!!

Actually, if ya get here tomorrow, you'll have the tree all to yourself. I'm taking my bride up to NY for her birthday and will be gone for a week. Plus my neck and feet need the rest...

Since I know Texas is out of ice due to the heat wave, I'll fill the cooler before I leave. :2cool:

woot, Iffy's tree is going to be empty-party at Iffy's tree!

i think that i cannot really add to this thread besides what i just typed-
pretty good points, especially Darth Vapors-very good break down.
Also, imo, typing in full bold with giant letters will usually scare me off.
