Wheezing and Hacking, When does it start?

Most definitely, we have to be thankful for what we have, something as "tedious" as blinking is a blessing in disguise, I remember when I had an enormous stye on my eye, constantly watering and my eye was as red as an apple. But then again kind of not even the same thing, smoking Cigarettes is something I did, pre meditated, whereas some other things happen because they were meant to, either way we can conquer them with the proper mindset

Cheers ;)

I always had them, too. I had been waiting for sinus surgery and finally had it a month or so after I started vaping. Between the two, it is a world of difference. Being able to breathe through my nose when I wake-up in the morning is fantastic! Most people take this for granted and I admit I do too, at times.

Thanks for reminding me to be Grateful!!

Nope, never coughed up yucky stuff after switching to vaping (smoked 1-2 PAD for more than 20 yrs). Now I have a cold with cough and it's sooooo much different than before. No coughing fits, phlegm started breaking lose on day to instead of normally 3 weeks into it! Only off an on cough, no steady "fits"...... Loving it! LOL!

I have only been vaping since ~May 1st, but I didnt go through any of the normal hacking, as when I've tried to quit before. However, I did notice something about a month afterwards...I had to cough, once. So I coughed, as I was used to when I had been smoking analogs, and I put some force behind it, because I always had to before. It was a very unproductive cough. So, I coughed again, harder this time, and I'm wondering where the phlegm is at. Again, unproductive. Then it finally hit me..."You'll probably never have to cough like that ever again." I went about my business, but with a small smile on my face...

Doesn't seem to happen that way, coughing/hacking, for everyone who stops smoking. Seems to vary as well between different off smoking periods. ... Interesting that people switching to vaping, seem to experience it less. ... Nicotine itself does constrict blood vessels .. so maybe that will slow down some of the "recovery" effects ... but that itself wouldn't seem sufficient reason.

MAYBE ... because the additional body stress of dealing with nicotine withdrawal isn't there when switching to vaping, "recovery" effects are more smooth rather than in bursts.

For me, previous quit smoking times, never had much in the way of coughing/hacking .... though I was more aware of it. Usually it was just a couple of brief moments for the few first days, nothing really major at all.

I thinking since, additional nicotine withdrawal stress is not there .. the body may be able to more easily adapt to the changes,

I've been smoke free for dawning on about 2 weeks here, and I've read on many threads on here that eventually you'll start wheezing (From experience from quitting before i've noticed this) and hacking up phlegm/tar, I've yet to start the process whereas before when I'd quit Cold Turkey without the aid of A Electronic Cigarette the process would begin in about 3-5 days.

Thanks for any input
Cheers

I got that bad the last time I tried to quit without eCigs. But, I kind of attributed it to chewing nicotine gum too fast…I was also getting flat-out overdoses that caused my throat to start to close up.

The only time I've gotten that with vaping so far (about 2 months in) is when I tried a cheap, POS DSE901 tank with an automatic battery that just wouldn't fire unless I was drawing so hard that I was pulling liquid all the way through into my mouth.

But, I also haven't "quit" analogs. I went from a pack a day to at most 11 a day with a normal day being < 3 (11 was a day when I ran out of juice and my supplier, at the time, couldn't get cartos to me fast enough…won't be buying from them again). But, that was also before I realized this whole world existed.

Only had 2 cigarettes (in 6 days) since I've been dripping with what I consider a really lousy setup (mistic battery, cheap 901 atty) and really bland juice. And I cough occasionally, but nothing like what I remembered from the last time I quit.

It's nice to know that it takes a little while for lung function to come back. I was starting to get afraid that doing this wasn't going to help in that regard. Still…a heck of a lot cheaper than lucky strikes and the inside of my head doesn't taste as gross at the end of the day…so, I was going to keep going.

Basically…uhh……thanks for this thread. I was wondering about that but didn't think to ask.

Oh I noticed the phlegm coming up. It just didnt' come up the way it does when you quit cold turkey. Mostly cause we aren't coughing our brains out I think.

I didnt' cough terribly, however a year in, I actually noticed the other day I had a productive cough. I dont' THINK I have a cold, but after smoking for 35+ years, then swapping to vapeing, well hoenstly I don't think I KNOW what a cold without analogs FEELS like :0).

I coughed up all kinds of ugly stuff when I tried to quit analogs with traditional methods. I didn't experience any ill side effects when I quit analogs and started vaping. As I'm sure has already been suggested.. you should try out different mixtures/flavors/brands of juices to make sure you're not having a reaction to the combo you're using now.
