A few years before I finally quit smoking I SLOWLY started to wheeze when I would breath...at first the noise seemed to be coming from my throat/vocal chord area) and then over time slowly migrated south into my chest and by 2008-2009 I was wheezing bit time (even in my sleep it would wake me up cause I'd be whistling as I awoke) and I'll be honest...it scared the living .... out of me! I'm way to young for this I thought (mid 30's), wtf is going on?

I've had numerous x-rays over the past few years and all are clear and all are same as the ones before, my docs said it was my lungs way of telling me knock it off (in a more nicely way of course) and I've also had asthma for a while now too so said the lung doc. So anyways when I finally quit (Jan 3 of last year) my wheezing literely went away in a matter of a few weeks...in fact I didn't even realize I was not wheezing anymore until I realized it, if that makes sense?

Over the past year I really haven't had any wheezing issues (ocassionally I will wheeze here and there but the docs said that was normal and as long as it went away when I caughed not to be concerned.) What I have noticed though since I started vaping in June of 2011 is that there seems to be a certain vendor out there (pinkspotvapors) which is my favorite vendor of all time (I love their strawberry cotton candy)...but anyways their juice seems to make me wheeze and I'm very frustrated with it.

Now I don't always use their juice, I have juices from other vendors as well but there are a few that I use from PSV maybe every few weeks I'll use their stuff for a week or so. So this past time (back in late December) I started using their juice again and by the first week of Jan, I noticed that I was wheezing pretty big time, maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10 but that is a lot for someone who no longer smokes and who's wheezing went away after he stopped.

I realized that in the past when I have used PSV the juice has also caused me to wheeze but when I would stop using it, a few days later it would go away. So after calming myself down this time and remembering the past, I stopped using their juice and started using juice I have from Volcano & Vapor Bomb, in a matter of a few days (maybe 5 at the msot) my wheezing is gone again!

So it's confirmed, PSV is the bad guy here but why? What is in their juice that is causing this?

Also, if someone wheezes that easily from a particular juice vendor, does that mean they would return to wheezing if they started smoking again? I'm just curious on that one...

Thanks!

What PG/VG ratio is the juice that causes you to wheeze? VG-heavy juices produce a thicker vapor, and it bothers some people... gives them a crushing feeling in their chest. It could also be a PG or VG sensitivity. If the Pink Spot is heavy in one and your other juices are not, that might be culprit.

I know a large number of people who vape Pink Spot juices and have no issues, so I don't think there is something wrong with their juice per se, but you might be having a reaction to part of the equation.

Well that just has to be one of the saddest things ever.... I swear if my favorite vendor ever started to make me wheeze I'd be so --> -_- no bueno. Hopefully it's something that can easily be remedied as others have mentioned with lower VG.

I really can't imagine what would be in their juice to do that I've heard such good things about them I'm surprised they're giving your body issues. Best of luck solving it!

I just noticed two days ago the same thing was happening with my favorite vendor. At first I thought maybe I was just vaping too much of one flavor so I stopped that flavor for 5 days and tried it again last Sunday, this time not only was wheezing worse but broke out with sores on lips, tongue, mouth and could feel them in my throat. So needless to say I won't be vaping that flavor. Then Monday I received a several different flavors from the same vendor and after sampling two of the new flavors, the sores and wheezing returned.

I'm not sure what he is using but sadly I don't experience this with any other vendor.

Sorry it's been a few days...

By default PSV mixes their juice at 70VG and 30PG, it produces a ton of vapor but it always manges to mess up my atty's and kill them off so finally I ordered my last order with 80PG/20VG yet I still am having the same issue (I vape their stuff for about a week and it starts happening...when I stop it goes away in about the same time period.)

The juices I get from them are strawberry cotton candy (which is literely my favorite ejuice period from anyone) and I also get candy cane which I love as well. I'm not sure if one of the juices is the problem and not the other or if it's all of their juice...I'm going to start doing some more testing by process of elimination until I figure it out. If it's not their flavors coming from a certain vendor or whatever then it's where they are getting their pg or vg from, I also vape 0MG so it's not coming from the nic either.

Other vendors that I vape (Volcano and Vapor Bomb) I have no problems with at all. It seems that PSV is the problem which makes it really bad for me since they are my top pick of the crowd!

Funny I was just wondering that myself (about the wheezing)... I chalked it up to the PV/VG ratio but never thought about heavy flavorings doing this... something I need to monitor myself in the future. I also just quit a week ago so I chalked it up to my lungs clearing all the nasty out of them....

I think there may be something to the correlation with heavy flavorings, or flavors that may contain ingredients which are not best for vaping ex: I had purchased a certain Lorann flavor and after mixing and vaping my chest hurt really bad, not a sensation that I had ever had before and my breathing felt a bit labored ... after a day or so I decided to look at the ingredients and there was Xanthum gum in it, and I think it may have been the culprit.

I have come across several different flavors from different manufacturers and some of them have flavors that include Xanthum gum, and of these, I wonder how many of them may be used by some of our most popular juice vendors.

It seems the most likely cause is your asthma. Your lungs are otherwise fine according to your lung specialist. The juice might be making your asthma worse, OR maybe your asthma is flaring up due to other factors such as your home/work environment and you are wrongly attributing it to your e liquid. Consider getting an inhaler from your GP to help open up your airways.

Not only PG or VG, but some people have sensitivity to certain flavorings. Cinnamon, for example, is a common problem, at least the cinnamons from certain vendors.

It doesn't mean the vendor is doing anything bad, or that their flavorings are bad, or too much flavoring, just that the particular combination doesn't work for you.

I'm pretty much a mutt, vape anything, though too high a VG gives me a slight heaviness that I notice in aerobics. I know some people specifically sensitive to VG, some sensitive to PG, some sensitive to flavorings. Some people who have significant flavor sensitivities are fine when they vape organic flavorings.

If something causes problems, don't use it. It doesn't matter if 99 people have said it is awesome, if it doesn't work for you.

I vape a lot... and I have learned to avoid four +/- things so that my lungs don't hurt and so that I don't wheeze...

Here are the 4 things that make my lungs hurt and make me wheeze...

1- Chain vaping 100% VG Juice.
2- Heavily flavored juice.
3- Several Flavourart Flavorings.
4- Flavorings with oils.

There are fantastic juice companies that promote wheezing and pain when I vape them too much... I vape these in moderation. First thing that comes to mind is Alien Visions... one of my favs... but I must be careful vaping it too much... the VG gets me.

On the other hand... some folks have severe reactions to PG...

I guess the last thing I want to say is that I have a pretty good relationship with the four vendors I use most...
and I know where their nic and base comes from... in fact, three of them use the same vendor for nic and base ;-) I know it's high quality.

Low quality base can really be problematic...

I have gotten mouth sores and lung pain from certain vendors who use cheaper base or base that has been compromised.

here are a few vendors that I find make an incredibly clean... uncluttered vape. I vape these A LOT... never had an adverse side effect.

Too much VG makes me wheeze too, and I love vapor more than TH, and have to watch it.
Yes, going back to analogs will start the wheezing all over again.

I love PSV, I feel your pain. Their flavor is very strong in many of their flavors and I do tend to vape more often when I have my pv loaded up. I counteract that with 2 other pv's loaded up with other flavors/vendors.

It might be an idea try unflavored VG and unflavored PG and see how you react. (devote a day to one at a time).
Then try mixing the ratios of 90/10 and 80/20 clear on through your comfort level.
Then try a little flavoring in your comfort mix.

It's a long process, but it's necessary at times.

Volcanoecigs juice is 80/20 if I remember right.

Good luck, and hang in there. There's a solution to your sensitivity problems and eventually you'll get to the bottom of it.
