Defines a tobacco product as any product made or derived from tobacco that is intended for human consumption.

Prohibits a cigarette or any of its components from containing as a constituent or additive any artificial or natural flavor (other than tobacco or menthol) or any herb or spice (including strawberry, grape, orange, clove, cinnamon, and vanilla) that is a characterizing flavor of the tobacco product or tobacco smoke

Looks like that was specifically aimed at both vaping AND snus. We can't have all the smokers quitting and leave the government without the cigarette tax golden goose.

I have 15 lbs+ of Stokers #2 light in my closet lol. Purchased pre-2200% stimulus tax hike.

HA! I decided to quit prior to the tax increase, so sold off my last remaining pounds of ryo to a friend in another state.

And tobacco plants on their way, in addition to seeds.

I have a few plants almost ready to go in the ground. What seed varieties do you have?

I just love DIY'n

Me too! I don't want anyone, no company, no government, no FDA, no PACT legislation, no middleman between me and my tobacco.

haven't had a chance to make my own nic juice, but I'm reading the threads.

I just got my first tin of Roda Lacket loose. I want to dissolve that and make e-liquid to see how it turns out.

I'm going to go ahead and interject, here, with this...

ECF does not sanction, condone, encourage or otherwise promote the extraction or distillation of nicotine from tobacco or tobacco products. Anyone that chooses to do so does so of their own volition and at their own risk.

Be aware that purified nicotine is EXTREMELY toxic and coming into contact with it can cause serious injury or death (with as little as 1 drop in a highly purified state)

Basically what I'm saying is that if you do this, and die, it's on you.

Please understand I have no intention whatsoever of attempting either of distillation or extraction. I can't even take the 8 mg of nicotine in a regular snus portion. It's way too much for me.

we stocked up pre-stimulus tax. about $400 worth. Then I found out about e-cigs ;)

here's where I ordered the plants:

Rare Heirloom Tobacco Plants from the New Hope Seed Company

samsun, golden burley, barnett special (I think) - was supposed to get delivery in may, but they've be rained out in TN.

the seeds I didn't plant this year. Don't think we'll have room in our garden for them now that I see how freakin HUGE zucchini gets lol!

as far as the stokers, I figure if I smoked it, I can vape it heheh.

here's a good GYO forum:

How To Grow Tobacco

Understood...I just don't want some brain-donor deciding to purify nicotine, then dying because he spills it on his crotch and then his family sues and says "those people at ECF never said you could die from doing this!!!"

You know how people are...

Two big holes which will allow e-liquid past that clause:

1. Nicotine does not necessarily come from tobacco. Yes, all e-liquid that we have does, but surely it must be proven, and that's pretty hard to do without GC/MS or microscopy. Nicotine is also present in potatoes, for example.

2. The keyword is "for human consumption". It would be easy to sell e-liquid as a "research product" or "essential oil". Plenty of people have been getting away with that sort of thing for years. It would also theoretically be possible to sell PG (not a tobacco product) and nicotine (not for consumption) seperately.

Determined US vapers will get around this.

When taxes on RYO tobacco went up 2,000% (no typo), the companies marketing the tobacco used the same cut but branded it "pipe tobacco," which had a very modest tax increase. Users quickly caught on to the change. RYO continues to be affordable.

E-smoking will require such creative thinking in the near future.

Here's a touch of creative thinking: market the PV as a theatrical prop.
