It seems so many people eventually get problems with mods ! These are'nt cheap and with today's technology working fine on mobile phones, computers and TV's what's going on ? My Vamo 5 is 6months old and now playing around. Its tempremental about starting up. I have an Itaste MVP 3 pro. That's now having charging problems. QUESTION :- How long have you had your mod working perfectly before a problem arose ?

Never had those problems with my mechs. Just sayin...

I don't own any mechs yet but I have one in the mail on it's way here as we speak. Outside of mechs though, in the two years that I've been vaping the only setup I've had that continuously worked for more than 6 months was actually the eGo pen that I bought when I first started vaping. Almost two years old now and I still keep it as a back up lol

I have said this many times.

I have a microwave oven, a DVD player, a NOAA weather radio, and all KINDS of electronic stuff that I have paid $50 or so dollars for.......and all are still working great after years and years of service.....not months, but many years.

With ecig gear, other than provari and reo and a genuine Joyetech ego battery....... I have probably thrown thousands of $$ into the garbage.

for the difference in price it should last 20 year without SERVICE, regardless the warranty.

The value of that Quality is highly subjective..........

This

My analogy was painful at best!!

I'm sure there are lemons in every aspect of consumables. I try to do my best when trying to buy for value. If that means delayed gratification, I'm in!!

The cool thing about this forum is, plenty of folks here can vouch for whatever you are looking for.

Bottom line is, due diligence!!

Some people have great luck and buy inexpensive electronic mods that last a year or more. I had an original MVP that lasted about a year before the electronics died on me and I count myself lucky because there was a big problem with the charging ports even back then with those plus when you buy any mod that has an internal battery you are buying a disposable mod. The vamo has been a popular mod for years but it has had a lot of reported issues with the electronics going bad but because of the low price tag on those unfortunately they still sell well.

3 months.

The biggest problem with regulated mods is the 510 interface.
1: the 510 interface is really a cigalike sized interface.
2: most of them use fixed centerpin
3: many use a centerpin insulator which pretty thin and will fail.

I repaired my vamo3 3 times so far; the last time turns out there wasn't really something wrong with it or maybe it was my own soldering from the previous job; dunno; thought the board was faulty so I replaced it then when I checked the old board it was working.

My other vamo, a vamo5, hasn't given any trouble so far, but because I know the 510 problem I never/hardlyever remove the tank that I have on it, so that 510 interface doesn't get much wear.

When will they get it right?
When they start making toppers with a 20mm thread instead of that little 9mm 510 thread which has only a fraction of a millimetre separation between the positive and negative on the topper side.

There's two aspects at work here.

First off, you do get what you pay for. You can't buy a $40 mod and expect it to be of high quality and last a long time. At $40 it should essentially be considered a disposable item and you'll be very fortunate to get a full year of use out of it. Likewise, if you buy one of the higher dollar mods you should expect both quality and durability. I would be really mad if I bought a $200 mod and it didn't last several years.

The second part is how well you take care of it. You can take any quality item and quickly destroy it if you're abusing it. Lack of basic care will shorten the lifespan of any mod. Simply keeping your mod clean, dry, batteries charged and making sure you don't drop or hit your mod will go a long way towards making it last.

That said, a Vamo is definitely one of the cheapest regulated mods out there, and it's cheap for a reason. If you can buy a mod from Fasttech for less than $25 you should definitely expect poor quality and poor reliability.

To put it in perspective, the $25 Vamo has a 30 day manufacturers warranty. The $500 Vicious Ant Variant comes with a 5 year warranty.

My first Provari is 4 years old, and still looks & works like new.
My Mako (mechanical) is also 4 years old. It even fell out of my duck blind and spent a week at the bottom of Ogden Bay. (my dog found it for me) It also still looks & works like new.
My Silver Bullet is also 4 years old, but it's been used for a hammer so it doesn't look like new anymore, but it still works like new.

Bottom line; there have been quality products out there that do last for a long time, but it's up to you to do your research.

I knew Provari would have to pop up in this thread. :D I never ever thought I'd say this, but... if you want quality you can really count on... get a Provari. They're out of my budgetary league, but if I could only have one mod and needed to count on it (which someone with just one mod would have to!), I'd probably have a Provari -- frankly I'd rather have a whole bunch of less costly ones, but that's just me.

You say you're having problems with your MVP, but Innokin would be my choice for great quality on a budget. I have 3 vv3s all over a year old now, and they all still work, though they all have that annoying battery post problem, where I have to pop it back up everytime I put something new on them, so I retired them to "extreme backup."

The Sigelei Zmax mods are also excellent quality, if you can still find them. Apparently the sigelei boxes aren't quite as good, softer metal for the threads.

So you want me to pay 20x more for a longer warranty.. Why wouldn't I just save some money and buy a new Vamo everytime they break. Sorry there is just no way to justify spending $500 on a Battery case. 5 year warranty or not.

I paid about $50-60 (some less) for almost every small appliance in my home and they are still serving duty 3-4 years later (or more!) Microwave, coffee maker, NOAA weather radio, blender, iron, toaster, electric can opener, clock radio.

The $500 Vicious Ant Variant comes with a 5 year warranty.

I didn't even pay that much for my hot water heater for goodness sake. It's been going for 7
years now. Flawlessly. Ditto, my washing machine. Dehumidifier, etc.

As for warranties, not sure in an industry that is changing as fast as this one that I would "pay" high dollar for warranties. They may very well be out of business in 5 years. Provape has a lifetime warranty on Provape-1.....hope they have a warehouse with some because I suspect if your provape-1 goes belly up, you will get a regular provari for a replacement, since they no longer sell provape-1.

And this is a very stable and long lived vendor. Just sayin......

Uh, wut?

Phones are constantly screwing up, modern flat screens under 1.5k have about a 60% failure rate at the 2 year mark, and computers, well, lets not even get into how whacky computers can be, even on day 1...lol

I bet you don't drop your toaster as often as I've dropped my Vamo. More than 2 years later, it still works. I seem to have better luck than many people with "cheap" mods. I'm careful with threads, I keep the same topper on each device mostly, so the 510 pins don't get pushed down. I don't generally drop them, except the Vamo, which tends to get knocked over a lot being so thin and top heavy compared to the box types.
