I've built a number of mods out of tubes and boxes. Never had switch problems, leaking problems, housing problems, etc. But, the one problem I seem to be noticing is the thread durability on the connectors. I believe most of them are made out of brass. The mounting methods most of the time involves using an adhesive to hold them in place. My question is, is there available for purchase a decent connector? I'm looking for the 510 threaded types, maybe made out of stainless, and even having something other than adhesive to mount them.

Check out Mad Vapes, they have a connector called, I think, the Shorty. It has a threaded end that can be used to seat the connector in a mod.

another issue with those shorty connectors is the fact that the center pin wiggles A LOT. very easy for it to get pressed against the sidewall and cause a short.
Yes, the cheap shorty version. The $7 version no complaints, except for the price.
Thanks, I'll try one of those. It sticks up a little but depending on the mod it might be OK. Saw them before, but couldn't understand the high price tag. But, if they're well made it's OK, and if the bottom threads are good then it would be easily changeable. I assume they are also made of brass and would be subject to the same wear problem as the others???

Iv never had a problem with the shorty 510-510 connector . I actually use them on other connectors i have with bad threads and they always fic the problem . The shorty's are great imo . U dont think you will find any connectors made of SS . I could be wrong but they would be super hard to solder the wires onto . Iv never had a problem with any of madvapes connectors except for one but thats out of like 20 iv used . The one with the bad thread might of also happened because i was pulling off carto tubes with it too . They have some solid threaded ones on ebay however a few people have had the thin threads strip on them .
You might consider threading your own connectors with tap and die set listed by cisco in a sticky if you don't want to pay 7 bucks per. If you have some dead cartos you can pull the insulator ring and center post out of them. Just an idea

You can get decent connectors at MV for ~2.50 and even 99 cents at I believe goodprohets, even a 510 to 510 adapter that will give you both an atty and battery connector for .99.
The DIY connector uses a rather exotic threading for the tap and die, and if you read Cisco's comments, the tubes aren't the right size either and require further working before threading.

Those shorties without the nut don't work well at all for me. My main complaint is the horribly loose threads. My cartomizers barely stay in them. As already mentioned, the center post is a problem too.
The ones with the nut are expensive, but they work nicely. Still trying to find a cheaper source for them. They are not hard metal and do wear out if you're like me and remove your atty/carto a lot. However, they solder nicely, even the nuts.
To get my perfect connector, I'd have to pay a machinist to make them for me out of a hard metal. That would make the ones with the nuts look cheap.

Agreed with the $7 shorty V2 connectors from MadVapes. Very solid and easy to solder to.
Thanks. I think I'll pick up a couple of the units from MadVapes (the higher priced ones with nuts). The mod I am currently working on is solid brass. I will use the connectors to screw into my mod to prevent wear and tear on the brass. Gonna go to the machine shop tomorrow and start finding taps for 510 threads. Then the connector with wires will screw into the brass threaded portion, and can be easily replaced should it wear out.

Thanks mamu, are these used in the Denali? If yes, then I can say they are indeed nice. I've seen some vids from a mobius, one and the same?
Just an update, got the connectors from eBay. They are very similar to the MadVapes ones but they don't appear to be the same make. There are some differences.
Atomizers fit better in the eBay ones. The center post on them is better and the correct height. The MadVapes ones are slotted on top which makes them too tall. Atomizers have a large gap. The gap is correct with the eBay ones. The threads seem about the same in depth of cut and atomizer slop seems about the same between them.
The battery end fits better on the MadVapes ones. The threads are not cut as deep on the eBay ones so they are a bit looser in the battery connector, but not to the point of being a problem.
Overall length of the large and small ends is the same between the two makes, but the height is short on the battery end threads for the eBay ones. If you screw the nuts all the way down, they just spin around without any thread contact. The MadVapes connectors don't do that. Wouldn't normally be a problem since there's some thickness to the enclosure, but you'd need to add a washer for something like an Altoids tin.
The eBay ones have airholes in the side. Typically not a concern one way or the other, but theres no reason for them to be there.
Otherwise, the eBay ones seem to be a suitable replacement at a hugely better price.

The connectors I have are from madvapes. Unfortunately (several hundred dollars unfortunately) I had already stocked up on the madvapes connectors long before I saw the ebay ones from mobius.
The guy from ebay mobius said he might have the sealed connectors in about 2 weeks.
