I am going to build my first mod with this chip, but I was wondering if anything like this exists in the 5v range that can handle a 4-5 amp draw. Anyone seen anything like it?

I really like the fact that it acts as a charge controller as well, so I can just use the ego usb dongle to charge 'em. I was planning on putting a buck boost / Potentiomer for VV on my next one.

I would love to be able to source the guts of the new Ego-twist, that would have everything I need inside for a 3amp version. Any ideas?

Thanks!

your going to be hard pressed to find a reg that will boost to 5 amps. You can for sure run a couple batteries in series and buck down to 5 volts 4 or 5 amps. The OKr-t6 would be perfect. 5 volts 5 amps is 25 watts most of the small boost circuit modules have a 10 to 12 watt limit. So unless you design and build your own circuit i dont see you finding a pre built module for sale that can handle 25 watts and have a input that goes down to 2.9 or 3 volts.

Greetings fellow pastafarian! Have you been touched by his noodly appendage? Any religion that makes you laugh, questions authority and isn't taken too seriously is a good religion in my book :)

A great option to build your first vv mod in terms of simplicity would be the new dna by evolv that was just released today. It's a little higher in price ($34.99) compared to gathering the parts to build an OKr-T6 based mod (around $20 for all components needed) but it's way easier to wire and has more features. Seems like it would actually be hard to screw up, pretty self explanatory. Just gotta know how to solder

Wow, that's a solid bells and whistles board. Super pricey though... if I'm understanding it right; it acts like a darwin and puts out a calibrated wattage? Does that mean you can attach a ohm display etc to it?

Thanks for the great help guys!

If your goal is to vape @ 20 to 25 watts then it wont come close since the max output is 12 watts. For that price it should include a LED or Oled display, just my opinion.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There's not much point in that much precision if you can't get a display out of it. When you throw this much technology on board, the PV acts like a diagnostic tool for your attachments. If I'm just guessing what the output is, might as well use the Ego twist guts and dial it in each time. Which I still want to source! Where can I get those components?!

Since it is pretty much brand new it might be a month or two before the guts are available for sale. heavens gifts would more then likely be one of the first to sell them. I would keep an eye on their site

They don't have any components listed for sale at all. Great deals on lots of the non-twist batteries though. Do you have to contact them directly for parts?

Order direct from Evolv... Also has link to Data Sheet.

Sorry, thought you were asking about the DNA chip.....

Got this back :

Sorry for delay as weekend.

We appreciate your suggestion, but we are sorry that Joyetech does not supply EGO Twist items. Sorry and hoping to get your understanding.

Best wishes

Heaven Gifts

Well, I suppose the main vendors wouldn't want us modders to have access to these parts. I'm probably not dedicated enough to pursue these parts much further. Was just hopping we might have direct access to some of these chip sets.

Thanks Guys.

They might just offer them at some point. They are just too new right now. When the ego T's came out you couldnt get the guts of them right away it was quite a few months later when they started selling them. This circuit might not be the best option anyways I really dont see the twist holding up very long especially if folks slap a LR atomizer on them. I guess time will tell.

what about the chips from the other vv egos? anybody have those? i looked for a while and couldn't find any :(

Ther ego-c twist is the only vv ego i know of. At least a true ego that is made by joytech. I dont know of any Knock off brands of the ego that have VV yet. But i am sure they are hard at work right now reverse engineering the twist as we speak. There is a booster module that gives ego's vv that screws on the top of a regular ego. But i think it is safe to say that is out dated now. it is pretty costly also. For the time being the best and cheapest option for a VV ego is just buying a Twist

um well i am not sure who made them but i have a couple of the vv ego things. perhaps i was not clear enough they are not really true vv but 3 stage - push the button 5 times to cycle between the settings its like 3.2 3.7 and 4 i think or something like that. dont think there is a boost in there the high setting is prolly just open battery volts idk but if you have a mod with an ego head you can use this chip instead... i am pulling a chip out of one now but i really hate to gut a still working batt to harvest the chip for a mod.....
