I"m posting this in both places just because there are people there that aren't here and people here that aren't there etc!

I just thought it would be interesting to find out where everyone's names came from. Normally there is some kind of background story.

I'll tell you mine and you tell me yours!

DemonFire...Originally this name was Dragnsfairy in a game called Evony (age I) that I've played for a couple of years now. You have alliances there and those will sometimes change. In a change I decided I needed something a little less foofy frilly and since everyone called me DF (even when they called my house lol) I went with DemonFire. I still play.

You're turn!
:)

OK this one is a smidge more creative than my other one. Back when I first got internet I used to go into chat rooms and wanted a name that was unique. A friend of mine and I pulled 2 crayons out of a big box and combined the 2 colors. We had sky blue and some other color with glitz. We came up with skyglitz so when I joined here I left the sky part added e and the year I was born.

No real mystery. bjf - my initials and gator - mascot of UF where I earned my degrees (Gator Nation... GO GATORS! >;=;~)
most of the time just known as "gator".... but gotta appreciate those creatures. Not much in the looks department... they saunter around giving you the sleepy eye... and just when you think it is safe to tiptoe down to the water's edge and retrieve your golf ball from the hazard.... WOOSH... here they come faster than all get out on those stubbly chunky legs and take your arm off or pull you down into the water. And that is why if you ever golf in FL and see a bucket of used golf balls called "Gator Eggs" to use for practice, you will know that someone had to shoo them out to dive in there and get them. No matter how expensive the golf ball was... I just let the little critters keep it, drop another one and take the hit. No sense losing an arm over it ;)

I atteneded a 1976 concert by Quicksilver (formerly Quicksilver Messenger Service) at Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin, Texas. Early in the performance, one of the band members gave a little spiel about them being out on the street in San Francisco. A fellow they knew came walking along passing out notions. As he walked by, Cool Breeze said, "Here...take this." The story as told made for a good grin.

In Oz, it is common for your name to be mutilated, tortured and otherwise turned into some sort of nickname. If you're a guy you probably get your surname turned into an 'y' ending, like 'Jonesy', 'Smithy' etc. Females get different treatments.

Because my name starts with K, some tried to call me Kazz or Kazza. A few murderous glares usually dissuaded them from repeating it. Over the years though I have mellowed (yeah, right) and, being a cat lover, Katz is okay. I like it now, after all this time on the forum. In fact, I am Katz-in-boots on a few forums and other things requiring an id.

The 'in boots' part was because I used to figure skate, so I was always in skate boots. I no longer ice skate, and did want to change to Katz Meow but it was too similar to someone else's name here. Oh well, I'm still wearing boots - ugg boots
