Love the vape thing, but was hoping to come here to make it easier for me to figure out where to start. Anyone have any suggestions, bought some blu and SmokeNV ecigs and love the blu product but suspect there is better stuff out there. The smokeNV is not very good. Where to start?

most will start with blu, they are easy to find and very user friendly. next step after blu is usally a a ego twist with a bcc like a protank, or evod. the twist battery can select different voltages so you can alter the vapor production/th/flavor to your liking. here is a link of what im talking about for reference of the items im talking about. Hello, I am pretty new to vaping and this community as well. I started on a gas station cigarette look alike vape too and it helped me quit regular cigarettes. A buddy of mine actually got me more into vaping and looking at these forums i realized how much information there is on vaping. I believe (and i hope a more experienced forum member will correct/confirm) most new to vapes start with some variation of the eGo battery by a company called Joyetech. They come in different "capacities" from 600mAh to about 1200mAh which is pretty much how long it will run before needing a charge (you will also need a charger). All of the vape shops i have been to have had the authentic or knockoffs of this. It is also what I started on and can fit many "heads". I am currently using the Kanger protank2 which uses an atomizer. As to which is better to start with in reference to an atomizer vs cartomizer, i have absolutely no knowledge, from my understanding it is really just user preference. I have always used the protank because that is what my buddy had and it is what i had been using prior to picking up my first vape setup. Hopefully a member can chime in and clarify that but there is a wealth of information on these forums explaining each in depth. Then you will want to get some juice. They come in strengths from 0 nicotine up to about 24 i believe. I have been told that 18 is about the strength for pack a day smokers who are trying to quit (again hopefully a more knowledgeable member will correct/confirm). The juices come in a ridiculous variety of flavors from tobacco flavor to blueberry to coffee. I personally like going to my local vape shop to try different flavors before i buy, but i am about to put a order for one of the premium flavors online.

First, let me welcome you to ECF and the world of vaping.
Secondly, I would tell you to visit a local vape shop. Hopefully you have a good store close by. You can lay your hands on equipment and try out juice flavors. I know you will pay more, but sometimes when things are new you just need them in your hands. Once you have gotten further in your quest you will certainly look online for better deals.
I would say that you should get a twist style battery with the twist knob at the bottom to adjust the voltage. They go by many names, Ego-Twist, Vision Spinner, DV Spinner. I would get a Bottom Coil Clearmizer (BCC) and a top coil clearmizer. The BCC, (Kanger EVOD) you take off the battery and unscrew the base to fill. Top coil clearmizer(CE 4 or Vivi Mini Nova)you leave it on the battery and unscrew the top to fill. They will vape differantly. BCC will have a cooler vapor and Top Coil will have a warmer vapor. I would just buy one flavor of juice I would put the same juice in both the first time. That way you are comparing apples to apples. These are all entry level devices to try out. Once you get that far you will be hooked and ready to explore and seek out new and more advanced products. Don't be scared or get overwhelmed by all the information available

I seem to have skipped a few steps. I got into vaping after one of my customers showed me his new mvp 2.0 mod. I did some research for the next few days and finally visited my local shop that i didnt know existed. I bought the mvp kit and some juice and was hooked and 2 days later i was back buying a handfull of kanger tanks and more juice. Fast forward a few weeks and ive now gone whole hog on it. I now have tanks out the wazoo and a plethora of flavors. I quit smoking analogs after about 2 hours (i didnt want to waste the ones i had left) and now they smell and taste awful to me. This is by far one of the best things ive done, granted it hasnt saved me much money yet im sure it will in the long run. ive also noticed everyone ive met that vapes is super supportive and friendly and more than willing to help you out.
edit~ i forgot to mention i was a PAD+ smoker for about 12 years so any amount you can cut back is a win.

Many of us started with "Blu" type of units and to only find that they fail quickly ( mechanically,electrically) and the cost isnt too much different than ciggies. If you are sure you want to do vaping, then make the initial cost investment of purchasing a system that will last you quite some time. yes, there are units out there that cost hundreds of $s and there are the medium grade units (mods) that are affordable.
iTaste makes a unit called the SVD, well built, a bit larger than the eGo, Havent heard too much bad about them ( I have one coming)
as far as tanks... I am impressed with the CE8 stainless steel mesh and the RSST genisis type.
There is a website you can goto to see all of the different items.. Fasttech.com
Take your time looking read the reviews on the products...

I started with an ego-t starter kit and since have upgraded to an MVP 2.0 with an aspire nautilus and have not looked back. I also have an iclear 30 and aspire bdc as alt tanks but they don't compare to the nautilus.
