Hey guys,

So I bought a mega ego 900, 10 LR Boge Cartomizers, some ry4 Dekang e juice (16 MG), some cocout Dekang e juice (16MG) and some drip tips.

First thing i notice is that my kit did not come with any sleeve. If i want to use my cartomizers, I have nothing to slip over them, therefore it looks pretty dumb.

After using the condom method to fill one of my carts with dy4, I let it sit for a few minutes and then assembled everything.

I took a few hulls, and it was crackling and popping, the vapour tastes HORRIBLE and harsh.

I try putting a few more drops into the filling by dripping, but this doesnt make anything better. Maybe I over filled it?

I then move on to using one of the atomizers that came with my kit, dropped a few coconut drops onto the atty, dropped a few more into the cartridge and tried that. The vapour wasnt as bad, but certainly not what i expected.

I have been using the disposible smokenv e cigs, and they were so much better.

Anyone know what im doing wrong? Where can I get one of those sleeves?

Thanks

Hello and welcome to ECF! I would think that if you have filled your cartomizer correctly, you might want to lower the amount of nic in your ejuice. To much nic - or an amount you are not use to - can be harsh. As for the sleeves or cone, I would contact the vendor you purchased your unit from. 16mg juice shouldn't be that unpleasant though. The popping sound is normal though. It is just the ejuice being vaporized.

Boge cartomizers hold A LOT of juice. I'd say around 25 drops. I add 10 to the top, shake like a thermometer. Add 5-10 more, shake and repeat until you can fill any more juice. Then I let it sit. After 10 minutes I see if I can add a couple more drops.

Cartomizers need to be wet on first fill.

Is the juice the same as the juice with your other kit? You definitely get a bigger hit with the ego than smaller pvs. Some people reduce nic level when they get them. Or you just may not like the juice. You could buy a bottle of VG at the pharmacy and add a couple drops to your juice to smooth it.

The cones I honestly never use. They tend to cover the air holes and it gives a harder draw. They do look a little nicer but I get a better vape without them.

I've read a thread or two stating that sometimes there is an oil based protection on some cartomizers. Hopefully you can get it to burn off without inhaling. Or try to clean them before use. I use hot water and a 36Ml syinge with the condoms that come with the carto's to connect between the carto & syring. Works good for me.

That is with the atomizer (the metal coil you place on the cartridge)

I would not clean a cartomizer before you use it. They take forever and a day to dry, especially in winter. If you try to vape a wet carto it'll be like vaping through a soggy roll of paper towels.

As for the nic, I doubt 16 is too much, as i smoke a PAD, which contains about 50 mgs.

Maybe I just really dislike the RY4?

Ill retry the coconut in a cartomizer. I also ordered some juices from ms T's bakery. I hope they are better then this!

Maybe you just don't like it. You could add a drop of the coconut to it, see how that is. I mix juice together all the time.

The way I fill mine, would be to remove the top add 3 drops to the side with the most filling, wait 3 minutes add 3 more drops. I keep doing this till it starts to pool at the top. then I let it site about 10 to 15 minutes to be sure that the coils are wet. Its a pain and a long wait but if you rush filling cartos you will get that burnt taste. I as well try not to use a thick or high VG mix as most won't wick down and just pool at the top. When using cartos I use a 40/60 VG/PG mix and when I want that big vapor cloud I drip on a LR 306 using a 70/30 VG/PG mix.

I find Dekang juices to be excessively harsh on the throat. Some people like or need that, though. I don't get much visible vapor out of it, either. I recommend juices from PinkSpot and eVaporClouds (reviews in the link in my sig).

The crackling of a new cartomizer is normal -- it's air escaping. Some of us have re-associated that lighter snap sound -> brain expects smoke to carto crackle -> brain expects vapor. :)

I think you're experiencing that slight letdown that happens when a new unit shows up and you're not familiar with it yet. It takes a little practice to get optimal perfomance out of a PV. Just want to reassure you that it's happened to a lot of us.

Oh, and you may have not had the "inhale talk". I find vaping like I was smoking a cigar works best for me -- it may work well for you. I don't inhale into my lungs at all, instead swishing the vapor around my mouth and then exhaling it through my nose. Due to the differences between vapor and smoke, this is actually more effective than deep inhaling.
