[h=5]So I do my coil building at my bedroom desk and have realized that it is probably not the best place to do it. For the 10th+ time, I just had to dig a small chunk of kanthal out of my foot. I need to find a better place to build. Thinking I might have to build a shop table in my garage. Where do you guys do your building and do you have the same kanthal sliver issues I have been plagued with?[/h]

I think I'm unusual but I build mine in my chair or on the couch while watching TV. I have a little box on the table next to the couch that has all the coil building stuff in it & I usually just use a plate as a table lol. As for the Kantal, I used to get annoyed when I'd find pieces of it near where I sit. That hasn't happened in a while though now that I'm doing micro coils since they don't need to be built nearly as often & I usually get them right the first time.

If not at the coffee table, I build in my bedroom. My dresser is chest-high, so it makes for a perfect building station.

But, I learned the hard way (well, my foot did) in regards to scrap kanthal all over. So, now, when I trim it I hold the loose piece before cutting to prevent it from flying off into the unknown.

I try to keep them from flying everywhere but some always seem to escape. And with the glow of 3 monitors, my desk is also the best lit place in the house. lol

If you do that twist thing to break them off then you don't have that problem. Of course sometimes the wire doesn't want to cooperate but most of the time I have good luck these days.

I do it right on the kitchen counter. It works well because the counter as well as the floor are white which makes it easy to spot wayward kanthal and there is a trash can 2 steps away.

I do mine at the kitchen counter as well, usually just to the right of the sink. I trim everything over the sink so it doesn't end up in the floor.

I figure if I should happen to start a fire with the torch, near the sink is the best place to be.

I tried that but I usually use 4 strands of 32 gauge twisted and it doesn't like to break off. lol

In my man cave/hobby room. It's a multi purposed room, I build my coils and mix my juice there. I also build and repair rc helicopters (one of my other sicknesses) I have tables everywhere full of everything you could think of and desk full of tools and lights :) if I had a fridge in there I'd never have to come out :)
