i ordered 30Ga wire so i'm hoping to get like 1.8 - 2 Ohms with 5 wraps, sound right?

For me it is really tough to get the coil resistance that high and still fit it inside the T3 atomizer head, and that's with 32 gauge. I know with most top coils it is easier to use heavier wire like what you have. Do you just have a standard vision clearo or what?

getting a VV is just way out of my price range

I think you'd be surprised at just how affordable VV PV's can be :) I'm not talking about spending $100+ on a Provari or Lavatube V2... Just something simple. I just picked up one of these for less than $30. :) Just a suggestion, it's easier to press a button a couple of times than it is to rewrap a coil over and over trying to get an exact resistance value!

There are plenty of rebuild tutorials out there for the vivi. I think this all should go well for you! For this clearo I believe 6 wraps of 30 ga around 3 full yarn wicks should get you in the ballpark.

As others have said, you can get into VV for around $25 or less if you look around for a good deal.

heck for 70 or less you can pick up the cheapo vamo in a kit and have some premium features for less then many of the other mods. this thing really shook it up when it was released at its price point.

Wow the Vamo Rev.2 for 60 bucks has Everything and its flashy looking

Indeed, the Vamo has an impressive feature set at its price point. It's available as low as $49 at a few places right now still at holiday sale prices. And it's variable wattage, so you can throw all that Ohm's Law math garbage right out the window, as the device measures coil resistance and sets the voltage for you based on the wattage you choose! It's very nice, and comparable to the much more expensive Lavatube ver 2. Bah, this is totally off topic for where to buy your wicks from! LoL, sorry bout that...

I get my wick and wire from myvaporstore.com at the moment. They just added quite a bit of new rba stuff (mesh, some other rba's they only offered a7's before this weekend).

Thanks for this. I used to buy from them quite a bit but haven't been to the site in a while. Will check out what they have to offer.

Lots of great replies on where to get your silica wick. hehe.

Gotta add my 2 cents on using cotton also. I've found that by replacing the wick every week or two,
and doing a dryburn before re-wicking, the coil actually lasts a very, very long time.

As a matter of fact, at around 2-3 bucks for a new head, like the vivi and the "stardust V3"
clearos use, after a couple months of re-wicking I won't even bother wrapping a coil.

I have recoiled but find working with such small bits very tedious.

There is a post in my blog on what works best for me on re wicking with cotton.
It's NOT hard, just a tad fiddly.

Cheers:vapor::vapor:

Yep, building coils certainly is very fiddly and probably isn't worth the $2-3/month you can save. I pretty much did it just to see if I could. I worked my fingers off trying to get the resistance right for a 3.7V eGo with the T3... one out of ten tries tripped the short circuit protection even though there is no way they were actually shorted, probably just too few ohms. Or too many??? I really need a multimeter. At any rate, the coils are working like a champ in my Spinner which must have a wider acceptable ohm range.

Since it is really tough to get a small tight coil like what comes from the factory in the T3 (~1.5 mm), I found that wrapping a nice 3 mm coil and using only one full piece of the #4 yarn works quite well. I may try adding some flavor wicks in the future but it may not need them. And like I previously mentioned, the stock coils seem to work best with 2 of the 4 strands pushed through and a full 4 strands laying on top (makes sense if you are familiar with the T3 head). I have a friend with a Vivi Nova who will let me experiment once it dies, I know they are a bit different but it should be interesting and not too tough.
