Ok i know i have a different post in the new members forum, but this is 2 different topics so i created this one. Now im running a 510 setup, i have attys, cartomizers, even the 510-T system, cause i just love the diversity of the 510, Now here is the question, I have tried juices from MrsT bakery, ejuicemonkey, rockstar vapor, myvaporstore, and good prophets, and why is it the day they come in the mail, your all excited cause your new juice is here, you open the cap and take a good long smell, you say to yourself " wow these smell great!" they have overwhelming smell, and your anxious to load up your device, and then puff away. but i found some juices once loaded, the taste just vanishes. I have a Creamy caramel that smells wonderful in the bottle but i cant taste it a single bit in my 510 or ego, same with a cotton candy, like poof its gone, lol. Don't get me wrong some flavors are shining stars, and some just seem to be non existent. Tried letting them sit for a week and still nothing. I just find that weird.

i always buy from a place where i can double the flavor for a dollar. still, a lot of times i can't taste it either. the weird thing is... now that i'm 3 weeks in, the light flavors are becoming more appealing to me. maybe my taste buds are coming back. i don't know. maybe i'm just starting to like faint flavors. i'm not sure what it is. maybe it's just cuz i wanna use up the juice i paid for no matter how it tastes. :p

also, it helps to brush your teeth a lot. (i've always been a tooth brushing nut anyway) another thing that might help is to rinse your mouth with warm salt water. especially when you switch flavors. (i read about the salt water thing here. i don't remember who suggested it, but it helped me a lot, especially right at first)

just my 2 cents. i'm a newbie too, so i'm no expert.

good luck!

That's because you are trying to taste them. All your tongue can taste is sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami (msg) so you are not going to taste anything other than that. The rest is in the aroma. You need to let your nose get vapor. It's not like food where the food sits in front of you making aroma and makes aroma on its way to your mouth. It's not like smoking when cigs dump smoke all over you. You need to let some vapor out of your mouth so your nose can get the aroma. For example - a good cherry juice will have the correct amount of sweet/sour on the tongue but it will not be cherry until you smell it. Food the the same way but food has the added benefit of a visual clue as well as texture.

Also, if you buy high VG juices - VG dulls both TH and flavor

And this is annoying - today at work the air conditioning is out so I have a fan blowing on me and the side effect of that is I can barely taste my juices - the fan blows the vapor away.

It also takes a while to find juices that have the right amount of flavor for you. I find some way too weak on the flavor and aroma. But sometimes a weaker one is a perfect all day vape. And then there are many overflavored flowery ones too - I think some juice makers must just use 15% of every flavoring regardless of concentration. I buy a lot of juices and I stick with few.

Bingo! It's particularly tough on my no nic, mildly flavored juice. I end up cupping my hand in front of my face trying to get my nose in it.

I have a malty toffee juice that tastes like...........nothing. Occasionally I can get a very very mild taste from it, but mostly its just..........nothing. HAHA!

I still vape it though. I have been trying to decide what I can mix it with but at this point I haven't made up my mind. And I have DIY stuff coming in the next day or two, so I can fix it then.

Some other things - hot liquids and alcohol can dull your sense of taste (as well as leave another taste in your mouth). I find ice water refreshes my taste. And vaping the same flavor for a while will make you notice the flavor and aroma less. Vaping a very sweet juice, will make a subsequent mildly sweet juice taste not sweet at all. I like to alternate between a sweet flavor and a non-sweet flavor. I actually carry 2 ecigs so I can pick up one or the other.

Also alot of it just flat depends on your taste buds and whats going on in your mouth. Sometimes just naturally occuring lower ability to taste comes and goes. I have cotton candy from blue mist and it is (blue and pink) and they are spot on....most days...sometimes i cant taste any of the 40 or so flavors on the shelf and other days they are great. I second the intake of lots of water also. Vape has a tendency to dehydrate so it helps. Vapor is generally gonna be subtle anyway due to its gaseous form as opposed to physical contact and mastication of solid foods. There are some really strong powerfull flavored juices that come through when others dont but personally most of the time I just cant stand them. oh well just my two cents worth. Dont give in to analogs :)

BWB Malty Toffee? I'd mix it with tobacco. If you like tobacco flavored juice of course.

It might even be good in a coffee/ cappuccino juice.

Yep. It's BWB. I don't like any tobacco I have tried so far, which has been very few. I have some cappy on the way so I may mix it with that so it at least gets used up. Thanks for the tip!

I accidently added my mom's casablanca to my peach and it tasted pretty good! I don't like straight up tobacco alone all that much, although I do like menthol tobacco but mixed it was pretty good.

She has Malty that I got in PIF for her when she went to the hospital so she could stealth vape. She likes it! But the taste is sort of hard to describe to figure out what to add to it. She likes it alone but I'd probably try fruit or tobacco with it.

I thought my taste buds were dead when I first started vaping 'cuz I could not taste any of the juices. They smelled good, like you said, but I couldn't taste them. Then I found a couple really good juice vendors (see my signature) and realized it was the juice I'd been vaping. I think most vendors use less than the recommended 20% flavoring, and then charge you more to double it so they make more money. I refuse to pay for double flavor just so I can taste it. If I can't taste it at regular flavor, I'll buy a juice I can taste... so I stick to my 2 favorite vendors for the best juice available.
