I know in high school biology class we had concentrated nicotine that we applied to the gills of fish to observe to effects of a stimulant on blood vessels so I've always assumed that one could purchase nicotine from a chemical supply company.

A little searching turned up a company in China that will sell it to you in a 25kg or 50kg barrel at 10% to 99% concentrations. It didn't specify, but my guess is that you need some sort of chemical handling license to import it into this country.

The stuff is fairly dangerous in its pure form, I don't think it sounds like a very good idea to try to make your own juice from scratch. Pure nicotine is 1000mg/ml so it would be fairly easy to get a lethal dose through skin contact. Plus, how many of you have a pipette in micro liters? That's what it would take to measure the stuff accurately.

Don't understand the "extreme danger" of making your own liquid.

Pure nicotine is about 1000mg/ml and is a liquid. So you have to dilute it
by a factor of 25 to make 40 mg juice. (1000/25 = 40)

For example, why not take 10ml of pure nicotine and dump it into 250
ml of PG or VG, then shake vigourously. It's all done 10 seconds after
you open the nicotine bottle. No danger anymore.

Wear rubber gloves ( and maybe a raincoat ?) and do it outside in fresh air.

What's the extreme danger here ?

Am I missing something ?

Not sure I understand. What do you mean by wrong vendor?

I made a comment that someone else had asked a vendor about whether their juice was from China. I thought it was JC but it wasn't. Anyway the person got banned from their forum for just asking. All is ok now though - reinstated.
